It would probably be better to ban it from arenas than require it because it would force people to play certain builds to counter the healer. Otherwise, many builds would just be troll picks.
Alternatively, I guess you could buff all weapons to be able to counter healers, and then, at that point, require healers for the match to start.
It’s never been a problem in any other MMO to have 1 healer per side on an arena team with 2 dps or 1 dps/1 tank. People here just like to whine. If you did the same here it would work completely fine. Besides there’s a reason why in this game and every other game, you can switch builds at the start. That again, is a normal, expected MMO strategy. You ever watch top arena players on Twitch in other game? They switch builds all the time based on who their opponents are. It’s called strategy!
I would suggest that AGS add a “weapon combo” icon to players so when you get into an arena match, so you can see what weapons both your team and the enemy team are equipping. That will allow you to plan accordingly. Again most MMO’s do this already (just like they require a healer), so why didn’t AGS do the same…
Switching builds to counter players sounds fine, but in new world it isn’t that feasible. You first have to collect alternate gear sets, level it up to 625, spend 200 gold to respec mid fight….that’s a lot to ask an average new world player.
It would be easier to allow all weapons to counter all weapons/builds by either introducing weapon perks, weapon abilities or gems that allow you to make your character really niche at something. It would more realistic for players to spend 20 azoth to respec their current weapon to the anti-healer build or the anti-tank build or the anti-range build or swap their IG, for instance, to their anti-healing gauntlet or the anti-tank gauntlet than require people to have 3 or 4 completely different maxed out gear sets to have fun in arenas. In this scenario you only need one set of armor and maybe 2 or 3 different versions of the same weapon class.
Honestly the 625 isn’t as big as acquiring gear for these other classes. The gap in GS level can be overcome by player skill. However the perks are the big factor when it comes to gear
totaly true you got tools but fuck them i still want to 1 shot ppl with f1…sad cringe so no ccers are doing less dmg? lets see fire staff bow i can keep going
I was thinking more just either respeccing your current weapons - cause there are enough options that that can make a difference - or using other weapons that use the same stats. I think most people usually have those weapons leveled and in their bags. I don’t expect people to have different gear sets, but changing the build of the weapon you have, or using another same stat weapon - that’s reasonable and can help.
do you even realize you don need to cc a healer to put the skills on cd and cancel the heals do you? sg, dv le can be canceled by simple damage but again if it doesnt go down with a single shot of simple pressing f1 GAME NO GOOD NERF NERF “mountain of salt” change your name
I think you should take a stroll through my posts about balance (my profile is quite public) and point out where I have actuaslly done that…since
is specifically implying I’ve done that. Feel free, wander my activity here to your heart’s content. I’ll warn you in advance though; there’s a lot of it.
Lota these healer haters seem to just not like, want, or have the ability to function against or with team comp. Funniest thing in the world to witness.
This is the most generalised, Ignorant comment youve made so far. Congrats.
As a healer for wars i can play all classes and weapons.
The LS appears mechanically easy but game sense to use it, is not.
Knowing where to place heals while running away from a one shot healer killer and managing CDR so theres heals available takes as much real time experience as other weapons.
Show me a clip of you using it in pvp.
If it is as easy to use and OP as you say, then you should never lose an arena or opr, correct?
Yes, it would be fun, if you are talking about in the context of a video game. You could play rock OR paper OR scissors and be viable in all situations, and you could potentially beat anyone if you are the better player.
New world isn’t designed around rock paper scissors, though. Some builds counter other builds, but not all builds are countered.
The idea of rock, paper, scissors in video games is out-dated, anyway. Today, its more about having different playstyles; not one build (or hero) is better or counters the next build. Different builds should just play differently. They should all be more or less equal in terms of effectiveness. This allows people to play however they want and still be competitive.
