I made 10k gold in one day just from selling items like tanin and other requirements for crafting.
You can make money fairly easy on servers that have alot of crafters that need materials. Especially Azoth vials.

I’m well aware of the trophies. However, I am also keenly aware that my Everfall, Monarch’s Bluff, Windsward, and First Light storages are at 1200/1200 capacity and I NEED more storage. I will absolutely pay the high taxes for an extra 1200 storage (right now) in every city.
Where is the misleading part? I mean you can see both price of the house and the property taxes before buying anything.
You made 10k in one day and that is awesome but you need to take into consideration that the market that is blooming right now is based on supply and demand meaning that the very high demand on materials will change over time. I am really wondering how much you will make in one month from now on when you will have three houses and you will need to pay from 1.5k up to 6k taxes per week.
Dustbone, you also need to be aware of the fact that the extra storage is nice to have but that extra storage makes you to want to need it because so many items have so much weight that it is unreal ( i have food in the storage that takes up to 200 weight ). The extra storage that you want is not because of luxury but because the game makes you to need that extra storage and it makes you to grind and pay for that extra storage.
Anyway, the fact that we need to grind and pay taxes weekly to be able to use the extra advantages like storage and trophies is kinda silly especially when the trophies can give such significant bonuses with three houses and in my case will just pass on this because i do not want to deal with axiety thinking that i need to grind or else i will be left behind if i am not paying the taxes.
Bro who says anything about the market? Quests. Do quests.
Sounds like to me you need to start grinding gold or stop making obscene purchases then complaining about them.
I am glad I am not into player housing. I assume we aren’t required to have one. I remember the only player housing I actually used was SWG which I never did anything with and never really went to it and the tax or maintenance kept growing that I just let it explode lol. I didn’t even do any player housing in FFXIV, SWWTOR nor WIldstar.
But hope it all works out for you! That is nuts how expensive it is per week.
its just pay gold for a bonus, if you don’t wanna spend it just stops the use of buffs.
If the buffs aren’t worth it to you, don’t pay the tax.
And yeah, its probably worth the gold, but I understand for some people its too much pressure, thats why its optional
it isn’t that expensive for people using the buffs. If you aren’t using the buffs, you can live rent free.
basically you can choose to pay gold for certain buffs, at the end of the day.
I am not sure what was the intention behind the first discount ( most likely a friendly one ) but for me as a new player it was misleading because there was no warning telling me that the discount for the tax applies only for the first week ( i could also not find that much information outside of the game ) and it was punitive because i could not get the coins back after spending 10k by mistake in the first hour after buying so that the system could not be abused. I am a new and inexperienced player but i have my lesson learned after wasting 12.5k coins ( 10k from buying a house that i will need to abandon and 2.5k for losing the discount for the next house ).
I know that i am complaining and that i deserve it for not paying attention but the fact that i could not get the coins back ( let us say in the first hour after buying the house so that i could not be abused ) kinda upset me.
But i am going to fix this by abandoning the Tier 4 houses which asks me almost 1.5k tax per week at the moment for x5 chests and x5 trophies then buy x3 Tier 1 houses for x3 chests and x15 trophies for 1k tax per week.
I feel this way about real life also.
Nah you are good. I am glad you actually mentioned it because although I am not into player housing in mmos, I likely would have gotten one to just have but hearing now what it costs weekly it is definitely not something I will likely get anytime soon. Not worth paying that for something I likely will hardly ever go into and decorate etc. Not worth the quick travel either since it is easy enough to do that and I also quite enjoy just running out in the world listening to the ambiance, looking at the lightning of the sun. sky, etc. and the relaxing chill music.
That’s not true. It’s right on the tab to buy the house. It states the discount on taxes is for the initial purchase only. I’ve been comparison shopping as I’m not sure where exactly I want houses - Everfall or Windsward or Brightwood or ?
As for making $$ in NW - between quest turn in, salvage and selling on the AH I don’t see covering a $1,500 tax bill that bad. $6K bill might be, but ? on how the coin flows at level 60?
Regarding the taxes. It fits the game. I’ve played MMO’s with a housing tax/rent and ones without. This works in this game with the dynamics of town governing changing from time to time.
Forgive me if I’m wrong, but isn’t that the entire purpose of the game… i.e to create conditions that might trigger PvP conflicts? In this case a change of management and end to tyranny?
I mean, that’s kinda the way I see it. It’s not so different to the way in which games like EvE encouraged PvP conflict (albeit on a much less grandiose scale).
Bought the T4 house right in the middle of Everfall and regret nothing.
Is there any REAL reason to buy a house other than the extra fast travel spot
I’m not gonna spent 10k on a house I’d never furnish or do anything with
There are buffs you get from trophies and other things.
I’m still not sold on buying a house yet… I dunno.
Just buy a cheap one for 2.5k… the fast travel is worth… Use that city to keep your stuff.
I just did that.
I have bought a cheap house at Brightwood then i am going to buy another cheap house at Windsward while keeping my Inn at Everfall and then i will probably buy a third cheap house at Ebonscale Reach sometimes later.
