Do the devs have any intention of changing the watermark system?

Certainly it was not the intention of the developers when creating the watermark system for players to form massive zerg groups to run through elite open world areas and grabbing chests day after day in order to raise their watermark. I don’t know of anyone who thinks that this system in its current form is good, or working as intended.

But I haven’t seen anything regarding changes to the watermark system on the devblogs, so I’m wondering if perhaps I missed it ?

I think the watermark system could be changed to be cool if it only worked as a “bad luck protection” system rather than its current form of, “you can’t get the best gear until you farm your watermark up so theres no reason for you to waste time doing fun things like dungeons so get back to running chests”

What I mean by this is make it where the best stuff always drops from the end game content etc, but every attempt NOT getting the best thing simply increases your chance of getting it. No having to farm every GS of item in each category before you can get the 600 piece, just make the boss drop 580 590 and 600 stuff and everytime you don’t get a 600 the next time you have a higher chance of getting it etc.

I think nerfing the cost of tuning orbs is a good change, but I’m not sure if it’ll be enough. To make the current state of endgame pve fun.

I understand that vanilla wow came out in november of 2004 and the first raid wasnt out until march 2005, I don’t think its a huge issue that theres no raids out yet, but I think its an issue that the fun part of gameplay is gated behind such unfun mechanics.

The only input I can offer is YES, please it needs to be changed to something better. Rant on me all you like, but the current system is just not feasible for long term desired game play.
