As the title suggests, I’m struggling to land my void blade when players are simply walking away from me ,I swing in the the air behind them. Do I need to “get good” or is this weapon designed to have no hit box?
Yep and they do insanely fantastic damage. Love that attack 
I missed part of your post… You have to attack when you’re in a good position to land on them, that is. IE - Use other attack forms to draw them in / gimp their ability retreat / etc. Sorry.
