Hmm think you kind of went into a downward spiral there, not against it, merely question peoples motives and would prefer instead of people advocating for new servers, they helped AGS realise the flaw in their current systems that make new players want fresh servers in the first place.
I disagree that previous exploits are a valid reason. Who’s to say new exploits wont arise? Will that then invalidate new fresh servers?
From what I can see it’s “Ah im too far behind and I want everyone to start again so I can get ahead or not feel behind”.
I agree though, the grind for new players is too much before they are relevant in end game content and needs to be looked at.
A lot of the reasons that made people leave the game doesn’t exist anymore. A fresh server is not because being competitive but engage new players to play the game, it is more a Marketing thing.
That’s for AGS to answer with actions. If the answer is ‘nothing,’ then it’s nothing.
Ideally patches don’t brick major features and rollbacks are enacted when they do on FS servers, ideally they monitor these servers tighter for suspicious activity since the fresh start and limited scope should help them keep easier track of player activity.
You’re probably right in that we’ve been expecting, and not receiving, these things on normal servers and so we won’t see the increased quality control on FS servers.
Bugs, exploits, AH closed for days, lack of content, And when I say bugs I’m referring to real bugs that interfeeres with gampleay, not a three that doesn’t sound when falls LOL. Again, this is a Marketing opportunity to make new players comes to the game. Is not about we see from here, it is about what people see from outside.
So those 6 month old issues and bugs affect your new player experience in those servers right now, if you were to start fresh? Wha?
Let’s be real, you want a fresh server so you can feel relevant, maybe even take a territory! Let me be the first to tell ya, you will run into the exact same issues as you would playing existing servers.
Can you see the future? We don’t know that, in fact, what we do know is that the current servers are collapsed and when the next expansion comes out it will be even worse. The other thing that we also know from all the comments that we can read in the forums is that people want a new server to start or return the game, nothing more. It’s only 2000 people per server, it’s not that many people.
We need fresh servers with NO transfers… And u will see how the game is relaunched totally (maybe servers with forcefully pvp? or national servers? interesting AF)
+1 Very good post! From my view (a player that quit several months after launch), I would LOVE to see fresh servers without migration. But there’re 2 sides to the story and both need to be listened to.
I like your solution of the 6 month ‘trial’. We know that many players would come back, but we don’t know what that number actually is and how sustainable it will be.
I think that a few things need to happen before fresh start servers are viable:
The territory control and finances need to be fixed and those fixes need to be tested to ensure they work.
Fresh start servers need to prevent transfers in and also transfers OUT. Fresh start servers should not be useful for farming gold or mats just to get exported via for mule services. Maybe this can be tied to character and not server age?
