Do we really need dungeon keys?

Why doesnt New World just gate their dungeon content with daily or weekly lockouts? They could have their dungeon mutation system only require crafted keys or perhaps use crafted keys as a way to circumvent daily/weekly dungeon limits in the meantime.

Right now everyone is sitting on their keys until they are closer to 600gs. Which is funneling everyone into the outdoor PvE zones. The outdoor elite areas are too few and too small to handle all the 60 players. The “solo” areas and bosses are camped by 10+ players thanks to youtubers advising everyone of the best spawns/locales.

Sure they made crafting keys slightly less painful but it’s not enough. Give players easier base-line access to dungeons without a crafting component so that they will run them sub-600gs. It will relieve congestion in the endgame elite areas that are to small to house the endgame playerbase on larger servers.

We dont, but whoever is in charge of the game has only ever played mobile games and thinks the timegating mechanic is great

Exactly! We want everything NOW!

Asking to be able to run the dungeons isnt wanting everything. The orbs werent even a thing in the beta. If dungeons give you better chances at gear, change it. Give it equal chance like a normal chest.

Atleast people will have fun doing tbe gs grind rather then semi afk chest simulator

Yes, as far I’m concern I don’t want anymore daily resets. Chest and factions are enough. I better hoard keys and run them on weekends when I have enough time.

We shouldn’t even have instanced dungeons. Should be open world.

The Key system will have to go eventually. Once they release raid content that requires progression to complete the key system becomes obsolete.

Every thing in this game is created to stunt the player progression, with artificial roadblocks and time sinks… seem that did not create the content needed ahead of time, and now they are stalling all of us in progression to be able to create new conten.

it feel who ever designed the game is still in 1990, and have not learned from Wow or other modern MMORPGs… how to take ideas and making them even better suited for 2021.

I wonder if they have any data on the number of lvl 60s who have yet to even enter the 60 dungeons, number of players under 5 runs, under 10, and so on.

To be honest, i stopped playing the game intensively after about 240h. There is a huge lack of content. i mean i do not want to farm SAME place 100000 times to get my watermark higher or get items or have fun.
I understand the grinding aspect of MMOs, yes perfect. But in the game, all i can do is either farm elites or farm materials. i have been lvl 60 for about 2 weeks now and i only did GENESIS once, never lazarus.

People are selling keys, i mean, i do not want to pay in game curreny to be able to do some endgame content.
farming the keys urself is just painful. And that is only once per week…

As you stated, they can add a lock down period, or i dont know an attunement quest instead of a HARDCORE key. repeating same elite zones are just not fun anymore. And they prevent us doing end game content with keys…

While we are at it , the watermark system is stupid also.

Like most of the things in the game the expedition system is also half-baked. It is not a bad system. It just lacks the proper features to be used properly.

The game feels like half of it is missing.

Ich fände es prima wenn es eine Möglichkeit gäbe einmal täglich so in die ini zu kommen und für jedes weitermal eine quest erledigen oder den Schlüssel zu bauen.

From my perspective, this games’ progress is waaaay too fast. Everyone has all the professions reached to the max, everyone is basically geared in the full void set, and most of the players reached 600 watermarks so not much left to do, sadly.

On my server I have never seen a LFG for Gen or Laz. No one wants to PUG their key.

The problem on larger end-game servers is the gameplay loop has devolved into 50+ people zerging chest/bosses in the elite zones. The developers tried to make this strategy untenable by buffing the content against zeros. The problem being that the elite areas cannot support even just five or six small teams of 5 players. They are simply too few of them and they’re not large enough. If they opened up dungeons so that more players ran that content then it would relieve congestion and allow for more engaging open world experiences for people that enjoy that.

Look at what EQ does on their servers today. They spin up multiple instances of zones once they’ve reached a certain player limit because open world PvE areas just can’t be designed to support a large number of players without trivializing the content or making it unrewarding for some players.

The solution I’m suggesting is to open up the instanced dungeons to funnel some of the player base into that content. Keep the crafting system for keys in place for their dungeon mutation system. While they’re at it they could get rid of the botters and afkers in OR and increase the likelyhood of GS upgrades there too. The more diverse activities players can engage in at endgame the better.

The zerg meta in these endgame areas is not fun and the solutions they are coming up with aren’t addressing the problem. Their solutions are pissing off players because it makes life more difficult on them without actually changing player behavior.

Another idea for future elite areas is to design them like Everquest did. Have multilayered zones with varying difficulty that are capable of supporting multiple groups of varying level ranges. More height/verticality to stratiphy players into different segments of an openworld dungeon. Right now they’re too linear and players inevitably bump into each other - especially when you placed two bosses in close proximity on short respawn timers with skippable trash.

Very good suggestions overall.

The philosophy about activities in NW (as far as I have gathered from a dev post) is that the developers want people to do many things instead of grinding one thing to success.

I must say, it works to a certain extend as I do have the feeling there is so many things I can and want to when I log on. I really like that and I hope this principle will be upheld.
In their current state, expeditions do not fit into this as I have no need to do them (unless a quest forces me to).
I’d suggest to increase luck and drop frequency a little

Genesis and Lazurus dungeons are the only two thing I have not done in this game. I’m 700 hours in. Level 60 since day 5. And Trade Skills almost all 200. It pisses me off that everyone just ask for $1.5k entrance fee. I do have 3 keys now after just crafted one. No idea if I should use them since I keep hearing people say to not waste it unless I have 600 water mark. The whole watermark system is just stupid. I hate information that is hidden in-game. What if I was a solo player and never really read the forum/reddit. I’d probably never going to find out what watermark is and how they work.
