Who would ever put a passive like GRIT into a damage spec? have they played any multiplayer-based video game ever to know why that would be bad? It’s so outright ridiculous how someone could think of putting DMG, CC, Anti-stun all into one stat and call it a day!
Of course, I think the game still needs it because there IS a PVE aspect of the game where Mobs continuously try to knock you on your ass with every strike.
they had to add grit to damage dealers because otherwise most melee weapons couldn’t land a hit.
its not a con type ability, it doesnt negate CC when being defensive. Its an offensive ability that allows DD to be aggressive. Melee generally have to eat attacks in order to deal damage since stagger is gone.
Grit is for sure annoying. But i find it only really op on great axe auto-attack swings which make it obnoxious. Outside of that its fine. But next patch they are going to address great axe and add perks which punish Grit users in PVP. If Grit was to be nerfed, it should only be on PvE as every mum and their dog has grit. Not to mention they all have staggers. Speaking of staggers, there should be a cooldown window like 1 second where u cannot get staggered again so you don’t get chained from AI and players alike. Knockdowns should be unaffected.
for me this is more about the idea that they can power trough a leg sweep of my spear, i register this happening, i wish to react to this. i spam shift so hard so it responds the moment the game let me, too late. and it gets worse when they are dropping the hammer while im mid animation. this asks for prediction type of gameplay where u have to read your opponent a bit better. Kinda cool. but still a slap in the face if i am dodging my opponents attack (without eternal stamina do mind), do a leg sweep to get him , but he already pressed his panic “aoe stun” button, and enters grit. Also some weapons have a better response then others. Example try Path of destiny, dodge , switch to any wep and perform a skill, SEAMLESS almost. try this with a few other weapons to find out they are taking more time, being clunky when fast reactions are needed. buttons not responding while ur spamming for your life. i kind of going off-track here, but the one thing that seemed to bother me the most of all is i am forced to counter grit with my stuns (wich works for now), limiting playability of certain weapon combos, and limiting usefullness of certain skills. like i know we have magic and it doesnt make sense to begin with, but wdym your still standing after a leg sweep while ur with ur great axe charging a heavy. idk frustration and limitations is what i see. hence why i made post.
dunno why that disgusted me so much. and every time i keep falling on the fact that if im not using these meta weapon combos that il need a way higher skillcap then my opponent.
Also i agree that 300 con should be the only thing with grit. dodges wouldnt be less viable anyway. as its not there to counter grit(a good way to use it however) but to litterly “dodge” any attack. Including mobs etc. so that argument is kind of debunked quickly. idk i would litterly just find it more enjoyable if i can actually also land my hits without a white glowing bastard lookin at me at the last moment, and my character not listening. god i sound depressed dont i
^- also mobs shouldnt have grit obviously if this was a con 300 only thing, once again tho reminder. just discussion. if u wanna make a suggestion help urself ^.^
Grit is a Str based because you are resistant to cc while attacking with great Strength.
It would be Con if you were resistant to cc attacks while blocking…
I think without Grit, Melees would be trash, just walking test dummies. The main reason is that this game isn’t very responsive. Too many animations lock your character in action and many skills are super slow compared to other games.
I quit Healer to play GA/Ham now, and it feels amazing with 300 Str. But even then, there are many instances where I want to dodge an attack, I see it coming slowly, but I CAN’T cancel the skill or the lingering animation to dodge. And that was even improved lately. I don’t have to wait an eternity to switch weapon now. Jesh that was too annoying…
Even Bless unleashed, as Clunky as it is, feels more responsive than NW combat. It just had some abilities you couldn’t dodge and had to know when to use them.
GW2 has good responsive combat. Skills aren’t fast like BDO with 16 skill combo in 3 seconds lol. And it has the stability thing which is like Grit here, BUT it has stacks that limits how many CC you can eat and be okay. You can also use certain skills to break out of CC which makes combat much more complex compared to NW’s 3 skill-trick ponny.
I think NW needs a forth ability. Some grit buff or something with limits. And an ultimate ability that either requires charging during combat or some other preparation.
Oh, and I tried lately. Lost Ark. Combat is SUPER smooth there. It’s just amazing. NW really should copy many things from Lost Ark.

yep, tho spear is fairly spoken a monster in its own rights, but it gets overshadowed by other grit/stun heavy weps such as hammer for ex. at least thats how i see it. and i dont blame em either. aoe stun vs toenail has totouch stun , grit on litterly every move & heavy, im already happy i have grit on sweep. lol! and only so that i can power trough the other grit users. if both me and the enemy have no grit, then it would be a matter of iframes and who lands a hit. i think it would be quite enjoyable.
See, a person with above a 6th grade literacy would have extrapolated that there were better options than LMB spam weapons. Not you though, far too dense.
