Do you think PvE is killing the game?

People being given the option to PvE isn’t killing this game.

The absolutely abysmal questing system and barebones PvE offered to the players is what’s killing the game. There’s nothing wrong with PvE in MMO’s as long as the developers don’t half-ass it like they did in this game.

Seriously, why aren’t there more quest hubs that lead you around a zone? Why does every quest involve 10+ minutes of running just to get to some remote area to kill the same generic mobs I’ve been killing in every other area?

These are the things that are going to turn players off and then they won’t ever make it to endgame to even try out the PvP.

Mate it sounds like you want a pvp area so you can pve the mobs and pve farm materials to get exclusive items from that area, and then do the pve thing and sell those items you got pve’ing to other pve players under the guise that your rare 20v5 counts as pvp

A lot of mechanics have been taken out for the PvE crowd to be happy.

Would you perhaps be interested in reposting a more spicier title?

“Do you think PvE only players are killing the game?”

guys ,check this What if theres a rift,
20-100 ppl vs the whole server, its hard core for PVPERs,its also opened a window for PVEERs to participate slightly.

not true i played forsaken world for many years and it did PVP well and PvE well sadly it became pay to win since perfect world owns it

If the game was purely PVP like you’ve mentioned I wouldn’t have bothered playing it. At least with the PvE elements the game has potential. The majority of players are PvE players.

See this kind of bothers me like the system we always had since years back for PVP is RED NAME where you receive both reward and punishment for being flagged certain areas are safe and in other areas its open territory yes its annoying for some PvE players but u can move in groups or pay protection to get around it and the one who is red named of flagged cant enter citys use any of the usual item benches ect and has to do a time punishment to get rid of the status it makes it so both PvE players have a layer of protection and PVP players get punished for griefing through not using towns and other things add guard NPC on certain tracks for PvE players so if a red name attacks guard 1 shots them this has and always will be the most balanced option for PVP imo

People get it but you don’t get that it’s an indirect force. Crafting is part of the PvE experience, if you have materials that are used in PvE sessions but are only effectively gotten from PvP, then you’re indirectly forcing PvP on PvE players.

Also a lot of PvE players like to be self supplied, my self included. This is why I play Runescape 3 on ironman mode. It’s more fun gaining those levels when you’ve spent good hours grinding out the materials required to make the necessary amount of items.

You don’t get PvEers, yet you proclaim that PVEers don’t get PvPers. The irony is laughable to be honest.

Quoted for truth. I want more content of all kinds, don’t limit us to just PvP.

Um no. No matter how many people enjoy PVP, it is ALWAYS by far, the minority. That’s from decades of metrics of MMOs. That’s the reason why every MMO ends up throwing their PvP into some sort of Arena-style mini-game. Because most people don’t really want PVP. It’s just some side game to them. If anything, incorporating PvP as part of the main game itself is what will kill the game, because most MMO players just don’t want to do be forced to do it. PvE is WHY they play an MMO. Any time they try to make a PVP only MMO, it fails. Any time they try to make a PVP-server for a MMO game, it fails. PVP absolutely can be fun, but outside of things like things like arenas, players have historically proven that if you give them the power to make their own rules, they will destroy themselves.

What they lack is actual FUN PvE content. The game itself has too many copycat NPCs and items. Items aren’t fun to get, monsters aren’t fun to fight, and character personalization is non-existent. Even the most basic things in the game seem like Amazon didn’t do any research at all in: Selling quest items, horrid trading post UI, no undo for salvage, no selling to vendors, no way at all to diversify trade skills in a guild due to bind-on-pickup required items.

Awesome :joy:

No, no one even toggles the PvP that much, there’s jut a right amount of PvE and PvP, and some PvP are even angey because their armor needs repair everytime they die, and yet they are the same people asking for full loot

How I picture “hardcore pvp’ers” when the developers say, “No loot for you!”

Yep, have done since 2019, amazon tried to cater to a bunch of whingers who will never like this game and the game is worse for it.
It may not be apparent now but they all ALL leave once shadowbringers comes out every single one, the only people left will be casuals who like chopping trees and PVPers who might leave anyway because of all the issues.

In which case game will die and its amazons fault.

How can people even think 90%of the active player base is killing the game?
There is a lack of pve content sure, hopefully more will be added relatively soon.
In simple terms if every single pvp player quit today, the numbers would drop a bit but the game would still be viable.
If every single pve player quit today the game would stop to exist within a month.
Proof look at the threads saying almost no open world pvp to be found, or all the servers struggling to fill a single game of opr

I’m curious how PvE is killing the game when the game wouldn’t exist without PvE?
The overall playstyle of the game is designed for PvX to be in unity and have both the PvE/PvP rely on one another to survive and thrive.

However, it’s more or less just the HC PVPers shitting on the PVE’ers.

The heavy catering to PvP is driving out the PvE at the moment. (Nerfs to healers, nerfs to tanks). It’s slowly tearing apart the team build in PvE, and with the nerf to healers, all the regular damage dealers (DDs), will just see other DDs killing them quicker and quicker, and whining more and more about “This needs nerfed”, or “that needs nerfed”.

My suggestion?

  • Make PVE skills/traits that are problematic in PvP have different effects in instanced PvP locations (OPR/Wars). This would allow for the pinpointing of these skills and allowing the dev team to tweak them to be more suitable for closed-instance pvp (rather than open-world pvp).
  • If you’re flagged for PvP in open-world, then you need to deal with whatever skills are in the PvE side.

Problem solved.

you mean endwalkers right?, but after people finish endwalkers, will ff14 die too? it did not die when people finished shadowbringers right? they just played another game waiting for next expansion, you sure you understand MMO? its not like fortnite that you can play endlessly

My thought would be, add a few pvp only servers in the mix and see how it pans out. No transfers, start fresh. See how you will do without ( a majority of ) pve players. Be all the pvp you can be.

I don’t need PvP. In my opinion PvP kills every game, because of stupid nerfs. I’m fine with PvE only.

NOO no and no
