What problems are you having with controlling the character?
The title of this post is terribly written. I suppose you mean dodge in light armor?
I play a light armor character, and dodging has never felt better than it feels after this patch!
Snappy, fast, and responsive.
I am not experiencing the “sliding” problem that other players have mentioned, though.
The animation especially in the end feels like you are wearing ice skates and its hard to control the character when it comes to direction choices is what he means i think.
I am not sure yet if its better or worse than before. Need to try out a bit more.
The new light dodge is amazing. It’s nearly the old cancel animation dodge. Good job amazing.

That is the thing! I saw a video of that from PTR. But when I try it on my computer, my character never slides. Even when I do a 180 or 90 turn after a roll.
So it is possible that only a part of the playerbase is being affected by it?
In any case, the sliding part of the animation that I see in videos seems like it’s just a graphical glitch in the animation state machine. Instead of the character being shown as “skating” (that is just sprinting while barely moving), the game should show the actualy animation for sliding when you change direction.
You know, the one where your character is breaking with his feet, that you can easily get by pressing A, then D, then A, then D.

People who like this new dodge clearly never weapon cancelled, this new dodge system is horrible, ice skating everywhere. I have less control of my character, with weapon canceling I can stop my character and set up combo’s so much better.
Incorrect. I totally weapon cancelled, and i think the new LA dodge is way better. Aside from the bugs thatvwere reported, this update feels way better overall
press dodge to prone/z you will see what every1 means.

I love the changes to dodge tbh. I think it may be weapon biased though and it will definitely take some getting used to.
how is the dodge better? litterally press dodge and go prone after you will see the “ice skating” loss of control its not fun, fix the dodge as it was before this patch and just remove cancel. not making all dodges clunky in different ways.
I’m sorry you are not enjoying it, but I think it’s great. I have never pressed prone after a dodge, I’ve done the dive a few times… Before the patch I would swap or sheathe… Still trying to unlearn that ![]()
Changes will always be better for some, and worse for others. I play very aggro so this new play style affects me greatly, new dodge roll is very telegraphed and easily readable for setting things up, sliding everywhere. Some of us can only hope it gets reverted but I highly doubt it, will have to just get used to it. It doesn’t help that the ability que is bugged so spells are being thrown out when I don’t want them to.
For running away and traversing this new light dodge is better, but everything else is booty.
It works well with bow/spear, but yeah… Definitely playstyle dependant.
Its was a must have to weapon swap dodge for high tier pvp players. Because it gives you a big advantage against someone who dont.
As it wasnt intended, they just removed and the weapon swap. So as a light armor user, now you have a better mobility which is great! I dont know why you complaining about something that helps you surviving. Maybe you are a pve player and just farm iron or something but for pve its a very good change for all light armor user.
