Does any Minimap addon/overlay exist that only shows your location?

Every minimap im aware of shows nodes as well as your location.

New World Devs said addons can only show your location, but i dont think there is one that only does that.

The one by Overwolf shows your location and reported node spots, as in someone saw a node there once and it may or may not be there now.

I know the popular one on Overwolf with over 100,000 downloads pulls data from third party site for data.

Basically the problem I see it is that Amazon has approved Overwolf overlays but all current overlays are actually a violation.

What AGS means by ‘pull data’ is that it’s pulling it from in game, memory, etc. Pulling from another website isn’t the same thing. The overlay just shows where nodes exist. It doesn’t say if it’s currently mined or not, because it’s not pulling real data from the game. You can do the same thing by having that map up on another browser and run around those areas to farm. No guarantee anything will be spawned, just that those locations exist. All the overlay does is put it on your main screen in a small minimap window.

Right now, AGS has said they allow it, because the only thing the overlay does is pull your location data, which is freely available when you show FPS. The overlay just looks at that info on your screen, it’s not going into memory/game files to get that data.

If the add on uses more data, such as from external websites, the game, etc other than location, and solely the player location on a map, then it is not allowed.

Seems to be the case, pretty stupid though since it’s undetectable. One button press and it becomes bannable.

Per the official news topic on overwolf addons, it says if the addon pulls only your location, then you’re fine. The map addon only pulls your location.

If AGS wants to break the addon, all they have to do is remove position data from the show fps option. Whether that breaks anything else in the game, who knows, but it would definitely break the overlay.

And still, even if the addon is broken, having a map, pictures, whatever else on another monitor or your phone will still be a thing. Personally, this addon is a non issue, because it doesn’t do anything you could already do on your own without an addon. It doesn’t show whether something has been gathered or not, just that it spawns there.
