They usually release the update a hour into the patching process.
If your internet sucks you wont be done downloading by the time the servers are up.
Lesson is don’t cheap out on internet.
The PTR patch was 54GBs large. I would expect it to be about that same size if not bigger.
PTR patch size is not representative. They have some settings messed up there.
To answer the original question: there appears to be at least 8GB of additional content in PTR right now, but that’s not indicative of how Steam will download it, due to deltas, it might have a larger download size.
Ah didnt know about the extra fluff on the ptr patches. Still a hefty boi.
It’s not necessarily extra fluff, just for whatever reason Steam isn’t using delta patching for PTR patches (maybe a configuration issue on AGSs end), requiring a full download every single time.
I agree. I have the fastest possible internet available in my area. Do you?
Mine still is slow. Living in parts of Maine is like this ![]()
Yep. 2.5Gbps down, 1Gbps up.
I would expect a Download Size about 25GB+
Unfortunatly my only option is 4g LTE since I live out in the sticks
Starlink… I had to use 4g LTE for years at the ranch, now the 4g is just the fail over.
When I lived on our family’s farm, I ran a mobile internet stick on one of my Dark Knight routers out in our barn, then ran cables attached to it up a 40’ tower to two Yagi antennas in order to boost the signal.
I used to freeclimb up to 500’ tall chimneys and towers. I don’t recommend doing that. Use a harness, or better yet pay someone else to do the climb. I’ve been freeclimbing for years and it was still a lot of work holding myself up while I installed everything.
I ended up going from 5Mbps down and 1Mbps up to about 150Mbps down and 20Mbps up. It made it so I had enough speed to stream, though I was using 200 to 1,000GB a month, and we had to pay a flat fee of 2.50/GB for the first 100GB and 5$/GB thereafter; it was expensive, but it was solid speeds in the middle of nowhere, and you pay a big price for that kind of luxury.
I get your pain ![]()
Don’t worry. Between queue times and the cluster F we know is gonna happen most people won’t actually be able to play on patch day.
