Does reporting bots actually do anything?

I have been watching the bot numbers grow on my server. It used to be 3 bots that I was reporting, now there are at least 10 running in a loop scooping up all the iron. That is just in one area. I see bots everywhere now, running in loops, stopping at resource node locations even if they aren’t there.

I’ve been reporting these bots pretty much daily, but now there are so many I am losing track. Everywhere I go it seems I find a bot.

Should we just stop actually playing the game and just use bots? It seems like since Amazon isn’t actually taking care of the problem that it is the only option. I have been able to collect about 10% of the iron I usually do because there are so many bots now, and as a crafter this is a bit ridiculous.

This is New World meta. Chop wood until level 60 buy gold from Chinese gold sellers and buy all the best gear. Take a screen shot and brag “I beat the game”

I’ve been reporting the same bot for 6 days now and he continues standing in one spot day after day mining a single node. Reporting is either very delayed or does nothing.

Level 23 mining Orichalcum and nothing we can do. If I go afk for a bit I get kicked from the server but a bot can stand in the same spot for days and nothing happens.

You all do realize they just don’t ban and move on. Companies need to track down the main account or main character who the gold is being siphoned to, like a bank. THEN they hit it because you can get a chunk of gold and accounts taken out at once.

We can only hope that is what is going on. I don’t think it takes 6 days to figure who is collecting the items/money a bot though.

This is a big problem.
Other games like Bless Unleashed give not only tallies of accounts banned recently but even lists of account names.

No proof that bans happened = no bans happened.
Especially when you see no change in the game and cheaters still doing their thing.

If this keeps going on players will stop bothering to report bugs and just be resentful of the devs.

ALSO

Why prioritize transfers over deleting bot characters and accounts? Deleting their characters would free up space on servers to facilitate transfers.

I’m really curious if there is a way to quantify the amount of damage these bots do to the economy if it takes a week or more to take action against them.

They can ban/delete the characters involved, but the devaluation of trade items impact the entire server. How is that resolved?

@BugsyNW anything in the works to speed up this process?

Part of the “damage” is encouraging RMT.
What NW actually has that sort-of thwarts RMT is a crafting/gathering system that lets you get everything yourself, in theory.
That’s why there was a period where there was a price crash overall in the Trading Post.
But this will be reversed if RMT makes buying gold too easy. Then instead of gathering they will start to buy in the Trading Post. And this will be followed up by bots gathering even basic materials to feed their clients, getting back the very same gold they sold their clients through sales in the Trading Post.

For example if you wanted to level Engineering by making bows. The materials are basic but the quantities can be absurdly time-consuming. That’s where RMT and botting step in.

Nope.

We don’t really know how the whole reporting and banning system works in New World.

There were issues were people got mass reported and banned, from which player assumed they had some stupid AI which automatically ban people when they get a certain amount of reports. AGS said that they don’t have such a system, so as it is of now we don’t even know where those reports get to and IF somebody is reading them or WHO is reading them. And then there is the next question “Does the support even have the tools to ban anybody?”.

AGS always claims they have a solid communication, but we pretty much don’t know anything about what’s happening in the background, who is working with how many people in the support team, how the process of tickets is handled and how they are banning people etc. I don’t think we need details, but being like “Hey, we have 20 guys who are ONLY doing support tickets and they have every tool to ban people and whatever …” would help i guess.

Only works if the bot plans to go to the war, then you can mass report 1 hour before the war xD

I would encourage ppl to look up how Old School Runescape deals with bots. Quite a number of you tube channels cover them too. Though more rampant than here, it might shed some light on a constant battle
