OK, so I went about spamming OPRs to really get a feel of what I can do to improve as a melee (bruiser or SNS/BB) spec and get to know OPR dynamics well. Some observations:
Unless you have a rapier, your movement is slow; I saw one rapier/bow class evade 4 other melee like it was nothing and he never ran out of stam once.
No one really works on Objectives, they like to fight in the jungle. Reminds me of Alliance in WOW fighting on the roads and not on a point;
Every match was a steamroll of one team. Only once out of 10 matches did things seem evenly yoked;
Bows are ridiculously OP. There is really no other reason to use any other weapon but a bow;
Ally Ranged tends to block any retreat that I try to make. Literally breathing down my back and when I have to back up they present a major obstruction. I literally had to yell at them telling them to back TF up more than once.
I tried heavy and then Medium. Both sucked and got cut thru with a few rapier slashes.
The gear I got in the OPR boxes was complete garbage. All had Focus except one piece.
I tried doing resources for the home base, it was actually very helpful and productive. I defended the outpost twice and upgraded the command post so the team got buffs.
So in conclusion, I figured out that not only do AGS Devs not understand MMO PVE, they have no understanding of MMO PVP. They made the OPRs favor one type of damage and basically made any other spec obsolete. So I won’t be playing OPR again unless its to gather resources for the team and defend a base. And then Ill only do 2 a day for the gypsom.
the concept of spammable iframes ruins it. I actually like the feel of PvE, but its hot garbage in a PvP setting.
The only realistic advice is to run light and have a pocket healer save you for when you lose a third of your life from some random hit. That’s 95% of PvP, the rest is just min-max’ing.
the sad truth is…the pvp in this game is terrible from an mmo pvp point of view.it couldnt EVER become competitive in any model due to its very nature.Adding arenas, as if it could EVER be compettivie, despite arena pvp being the very pinacle of mmo pvp , skill wise, its laughable.
Its poorly designed, terrribly balanced, with alot of nonsense, very little skill involved, its overly simplistic pretending to have depth, there is no actual thoughtput into cc(spam it when its ready), there are no interrupts, no cc chains, no cc schools(the very fact that when you see a healer the bost option is to focus him ratehr then ccing and outplaying the opposite team is LAUGHABLE…and the list goes on…
your best option is to get a group of friends to queue into opr, nevermind the objectives because most people sit on a rock shooting guns for no aparent reason, and go have fun /troll/ kill other players…do yourself a favour and play bow or musket, its WAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY easier then anythign else in the game, requires half a brain cell, no aiming skill is actually required AND its UNBILIVABLY easier to farm points and get more pvp exp at the end of the match (actualy night and day compared to any other weapon). You will get bored after 3 or 4 games if you enjoy pvp due to how easy and actually boring those weapons are, at least for someone that enjoys pvp…
the reason why WOW pvp is still competitive ater almsot 2 decades is because, despite some terrible design decisions over the last few years, there is still a skill gap…and a skill ceiling, you STILL ahve tools to outplay people, and it still requires you to use your brain…
with a bow…well…you can Heavy attack the whole match and still do more damage then most mellee (and points…thats 1 click…of your mouse…over…and over…and over…Call fo duty is more of an mmo then new world at this point(pvp wise)
