Here is the hard truth, you chose your role. Your a melee in medium/heavy armor to dish out damage and take it in a melee setting. Why should melee be able to run down someone in light armor to kill them? They shouldn’t.
Most light armor are not stupid enough to stand toe to toe in a crowd of bruisers to get wrecked, The same should apply for bruisers, if they are stupid enough to go off by themselves outside of the group to get a ranged they should have consequences also. The consequence is you either can catch the ranged before dying and kill them or die.
No different then when a bruiser is in a pack and a light person is stupid enough to get within reach.
Also you should be playing to win OPR not worrying about stat padding.
I mean there is no point arguing with these guys. They are the same ones who scream that they can’t kill a healer 1v1. Don’t remotely understand roles and how classes play off each other. Just think they should be able to left click anyone until they die
Sorry but im not flinging arrows from 100 meters. Most bow players are not. Sure some guy in some clips video might show that but that’s not the norm. From where I am it takes seconds for a melee to get to me. Maybe 3 shots at best unless I am conciously trying to keep range. Usually I am not because I also like to play with my spear. High score in OPR = insignificant padded damage. If I hit 10 people for 120-200 dmg per tick it does nothing to them but it adds up to a lot of damage totals. If I get high kills because I caught someone running away with a final arrow for the last quarter of his 14k health so what? The fight was pretty much over.
I didn’t ask why range people cant do this or that. I pointed out what we give up vs the fact that the melee player gives up nothing. In order for proper balance to exist, no one class can do it all. Currently the GA player can do it all. There has to be tradeoffs. There are no tradeoffs. Im sorry but the fact that a GA player cant roll is not enough trade off. The one thing they cant do is what you all complain that you cant do. I never complained as a range player that I cant do those things because I know that it would not be balanced if I could.
All of what you just said doesnt answer my post at all. What do you trade off as a GA 300/200 med/hvy armor player. The answer is nothing.
You trade of maybe dying 10 times in a row agains other melees while you stay alive from distance? Look up the charts you will see how many times a bruiser dies trying to get a point or trying to kill other clumps you as range don’t do that and still live more than a melee that’s a huge trade off melees go from line and if your team is garbage you will die 100 times unles you are range and stay from distance with rapier evading and doing damage or like you said killing people going out alone and that’s how range gameplay should be like, and I don’t agree with the idea every weapon should be alike because then no reason to have 4 types of the same weapon like spear, ga, wh, rapier, it’s up to everyone play style you want to kill people left behind as a bruiser then go spear light or ga/bb to kill people left behind, you want to play melee tank or melee front line then ga/wh is what you should be using you can’t really make every weapon be good at every pvp place… they making changes to balance the gap from ga, you already can dodge out of gravity, but still is going to be the best melee weapon to mass pvp because is meant to be like that, just as spear is meant to be 1vs1 type of weapon or like bow…
If they are light armor to, they should be able. If not - they yea they should not. So mele can chose if they want to fight in broups or play flanking/attacking backline role.
But let’s leave out the Melee Zerg groups that steam roll everyone with healers and nothing you can do to win. Oh no a ranged is plinking at you but your ignoring it because the healers are just mass healing you while your destroying anyone who tries and challenges you to take the point.
That’s the point of the melee bruiser, control a point, take damage and give damage in melee range while being healed or am I missing something now? You think you should be able to do all that and then go off and chase ranged down on top of it?
Apparently you still miss my point. I never asked for all weapons to be the same. That would be stupid. The problem is that a singular weapon name “great axe” has no downside to it. You are calling it a trade off that you die. That is not a trade off. That is something everyone does.

Massive AoE burst damage
Massive CC
Massive mitigation
14k+ hit points
Self sustain
Grit on every basic and heavy attack
20% run speed when chasing a target
Other chase mechanics such as charge
Maelstrom that not only adds to the massive burst but also eats any attack coming in the area
The ability to pair with just about any weapon because its so strong it doesnt matter. This leads to the most oppressive builds in game history such as GA/IG

Im sorry friend. You can try to deny it all you want but the weapon has no downsides. Saying that you can die on the frontline is not a trade off. No other singular weapon in game has this much ability. I havent even touched on the passives and perks being some of the best in game.
Then you try and tell me what my playstyle should be as a range player when GA player complains constantly that they cant chase down the range guy. Literally shaking my head right now.
Yeah I know this I play melee light armor. My argument is with the guy who wants to play a bruiser medium/heavy and crying he needs to be able to chase down range with his superior mitigation and melee them to death.

Yes exactly. Its because someone took 2 hour video footage and cherry picked 15 seconds of some amazing shots and put it into its own clip so people think that’s what happens all day every day.
Yea. Im mean sry but people who thinks med/heavy bruiser should be albe to easy chase light armor are crazy. Same about light armor players thinking light armor bruiser should not be able to chase them down - they are crazy to.
Its simple choice:
mobility
OR
dmg reductions
Each build, no matter if its bow, mage, spear, ga or healer have to chose one of this 1. And live with costs:
mobility = you die in max 3 hits if cc
dmg reduction = you will be kited by range light users. light bruisers will run away from you when needed.
People who complain they can’t chase a range people are dumb knowing how easy is for range people to outplay melees, you making ga seem like god when the reality it isn’t lol you don’t even play on point to even be saying this type of things have you try playing ga in point and check how you get rocked by other melee good players?? Without ga/wh taking points will be almost imposible with all the mobility healing this game has they can nerf ga damage etc or wh damage still is going to be use since it’s main point is point control nothing you can do about it unless you delete the weapon from the game you range players stop complaining dying against gravities or dying because they couldn’t Evade a cc…
I have played every weapon in game at some point or another with the exception of the mage glove weapons. So yes, I understand about point control. I also know what is OP about weapons and what is not. I also know this game is way out of whack in balance and its not just the great axe.
I have played MMOs competitively since 1998 and while I am old and disabled now, that doesnt mean I cant be competitive and it doesnt mean I don’t understand game mechanics, how they currently are and how they should be.
When it comes to game balance, yes GA is god. It has too much and gives up too little. That is the reason 30 out of 50 players in wars or roughly so people are carrying a GA as the main hand weapon. That is the reason it is the most played weapon in game. That is the reason that every meta since beta has started with GA and still does.
At least you understand that it is a dumb complaint. You just don’t understand why it is a dumb complaint.
I actually don’t think it should be removed, ironically. I think it just needs some tweaking. I believe they tweaked it in the patch but I haven’t really read into it yet.
There isn’t anything wrong with having the best large control abilities for groups. It becomes a problem when it has everything else to go a long with it. It should definitely have some kind of player cap though. Im thinking maybe like 3.
