Don't give temporary bans for cheating

cheating is a different offence than harsh banter. Needs to be permanent. Only game i’ve ever played that gives out temp bans for cheating. Any use of 3rd party software needs to be perma banned. Mad sus

Wanna know why they don’t give perma for cheating but do give permas for toxic banter? Because there’s no actual anti-cheat, only a proprietary system AGS built that doesn’t work properly. There is no way for them to actually confirm there are cheaters, so they rely on mass reports and then hand out temp bans. You can’t perma ban someone for something you can’t actually prove, so you give them a timeout instead.

Cheating is against ToS, but if you can’t prove they broke ToS, you can’t revoke their ability to play permanently. But with toxic banter, there’s written proof they said the thing they said, so you can handout a perma and be justified against the ToS.

The only way someone will get a perma for cheating is if there’s video evidence submitted to support of them using a cheat/exploit so obvious that is visible from an outside perspective. So unless someone is using a clear cheat (infinite abilities,infinite health, etc) and someone submits a video of it, you can almost guarantee that player will be back within 3-7 days if you report them for cheating.

I think this is what is going on. If you request your Amazon data, they do record everything you type.

Also, I think if they have actually evidence of someone cheating, like EAC or a video of them attacking too fast, they get banned for a longer period than 2 or 3 days.

I don’t think they have any evidence of people cheating, and I’d imagine most musket players who have been banned since the servers merged are not cheating.

imo being toxic doesnt warrant a perma ban in any scenario. Just ban them from chat etc. Cheating should always be permanent
