Dont Worry Guys we have the feature.... but we arent deploying it

All this says to the community is that you dont actually have the feature. you dont want to disrupt the weekend play… What about the multitude of players that have been disrupted for weeks not being able to play with their friends and family? Theres enough players displaced that you should have honored your original time IF you actually had anything ready. The fact that you are “delaying it until next week” and you dont have a straight answer of something like “we are deploying this Monday at 12am PST to prevent and weekend disruptions, but still get the server transfer out as soon as possible” If you have the feature then this should be possible, If you dont have the feature why continue to lie? this is ridiculous at this point. Either roll it out as soon as you have it or own up to your mistake.

There’s the megathread to post this is in.
Having an additional maintenance disrupting everyone would be dumb. Assumption would be Wednesday given that’s when they seem to be deploying patches for the last 2 weeks.

I cant say i understand the frustrations of the players who could not play - but i do agree with them holding things off until they feel 100% confident it works considering the amount of blow back they would recieve if it was half assed.

Look at it this way, if they dont choose a good time frame to do it - on top of that the amount of people who actually want to jump servers at once, its going to be a lot for one day, let alone the week after transfers open.

This isnt a simple task especially when half of your player base might be moving - thats at least 500k concurrent who potentially want to move. From a professional IT background i WOULD love to see you be in their shoes and pull it off without a hitch.

I know theres a megathread. Posting on its own has its own merits. Specialty patches generally should avoid scheduled maintenance periods so the wednesday updates can be typical planned updates. This is something that has been delayed now multiple times so it should be rolled out at the first avaliable time. the weekend not being disrupted is a fair arguement, if thats used then the update should be pushed sunday night or monday night PST (as thats the last people that will experience sunday night ideally)

No, it’s just attention seeking behavior and a thread that serves no purpose. Batching patches makes complete sense. Whiny entitled babies on the other hand…

I agree fully, but if they are going to say that they have it “done” and are confident enough to say that it is done, they should give solid information on it. They have had a very bad habit of committing information for things that they arent ready for and then not committing any info for things they claim to have ready. Its just odd

And do you expect server transfers to go smoothly

No the mega-thread is for questions, this is a criticism on how they handle giving information and their commitment to things that arent ready and their lack of commitment to things they claim to have “done” A seperate thread is used to not clutter a questions thread even more but still make the critizism heard.

if you want to talk about things that serve no purpose “Whiny entitled babies on the other hand…” Personal attacks when there is no reason for that is just sad and does nothing for the arguement.

“Batching patches makes complete sense.” this is true for normal patches. For something that was planned for release but got delayed it should be a release when complete situation not a push to the next deployment date.
For example: if a game releases an expansion every 2 years, and 1 time the expansion has some issues, it should not get pushed to the next release window of 2 years if they have it ready in 1. it should be released when avaliable. To put it in a smaller scale as i fully expect a “thats completely different” if a halloween event is scheduled to start october 22 and go until november 5th, and they run into issues causing them to have to delay the push. The event should not be moved to the thanksgiving event time. It should be released when they have the issues fixed, Yes it might shift around the timing and not line up with the update schedule, but there are downtimes where there is a super limited playerbase everyday. its not that rediculous to have something pushed earlier.

In addition to this, if this feature is pushed wednesday and there are massive issues causing a worse problem then they only have 2 days to deal with it before the massive weekend play. A monday push gives time to fix with a scheduled update window of wednesday to hit if they do manage a 2 day fix. Massive pressure release for the development team and a lesser disruption of service in case of any major issues

Not at all, i lost faith in server transfers going smoothly when they changed their tune about cross region transfer. But id prefer, personally, to test my luck messing with the transfer system and have a chance of playing with people, rather than being stuck on a server with a character that i put too much time and effort into to abandon

Guess we have different definitions of a mega-thread.

No it makes perfect sense. There’s no point in rushing out server transfers if there’s another planned patch and server downtime 2 days later. Your argument totally falters after you mention a 2 year release cycle.

Sorry but do try again.

Hey look the exact counter i mentioned and gave a shorter example. It isnt a rush if they do have it complete like they claim. an earlier deployment give them more time to fix the issues that are inevitable with a push this large and gives them a convenient prescheduled downtime to fix any bugs that pop up that arent game breaking. Earlier is always better for delayed features as long as they are done, and by their own claim they are done. Your argument is also operating under an assumption of them sticking to a Wednesday release window. which they never stated and only has 1 official push thats come that day. Where as i see 2 weeks of “next week” meaning thursday or friday if they actually have it, which they provide no evidence that they actually do except saying the equivalent of “trust us guys we have it”

“Sorry but do try again.”

Again, it makes no sense to have 2 downtimes for no reason within a 1 week timeframe. Asking for 2 sets of downtime that close together just downright dumb, no matter how you put.
If they do the upgrade on Monday then it’ll be Monday, what does it matter which day it is.

Sorry but do try again. And please read through your post before replying, as you just seem to be throwing words together rather than making sentences.

The wednesday push would be a If they need it push, and once again they dont have an official downtime schedule. They pushed one update on a wednesday.

“what does it matter which day it is.” I dont know you are the one that was complaining when i said they should push it on sunday night/monday?

“And please read through your post before replying, as you just seem to be throwing words together rather than making sentences.”

Read your own OP, you’re complaining about transfers not being pushed at this moment.

Not sure what game you’ve been playing but both 1.0.1 and 1.0.2 have been rolled out on a Wednesday. Aka both patches so far.

"the fact that you are “delaying it until next week” and you dont have a straight answer of something like “we are deploying this Monday at 12am PST to prevent and weekend disruptions, but still get the server transfer out as soon as possible”’

This is the continuation of that thought since you hadnt quoted it, And with that im saying that the lack of the commitment to a date makes it seem like they dont actually have the update that they claim to have done. and in a following reply (to you) i stated:
" the weekend not being disrupted is a fair arguement, if thats used then the update should be pushed sunday night or monday night PST (as thats the last people that will experience sunday night ideally)"

Because yes, not wanting to disrupt a weekend of play for a decent amount of players is a fair argument so they should commit to the earliest available date that fits that arguement, not leave it vague and worded in a way that follows the same trend they have of delaying it till “next week” and then promptly not have any info until the following friday.
The main issue i have with them is that they commit to things they dont have solid info on and dont commit to things they supposedly have ready.

And to your credit, i didnt realize that 1.0.1 rolled out the first wednesday as it was basically a hotfix to fix some of the main issues with the launch. 1.0.2 was the only planned rollout update as far as i know.
