We decided to attempt our first garden of genesis run yesterday, we died a lot trying to learn the mechanics of the bosses, and it was no easy feat with the newly buffed monsters that came in with patch 1.0
On the final boss, trying our hardest to fight our way through her mechanics, we discovered there was a dungeon timer. To our surprise we were very upset to find out that AGS had penalised an already hard encounter.
The key’s are not easy or cheap to obtain - and you basically are forced to lose your key if you are taking a long time and experiencing the dungeon for the first time. The encounter’s if you have not done them before require some trial and error and naturally will take time, and for players in this ‘learning phase’ are basically penalised, in effect encouraging us to either not bother with the dungeon or to use our keys as throw away keys.
This is unencouraging, it does not encourage a good atomosphere, players running dungeons are now going to be toxic, looking for BIS players to run with. Going in with random players, or even your friends who are new to the dungeon presents a risk and as a result ‘loss of key’, because you end up not having time to die a few times and teach those players the mechanics.
On top of that, I (the main healer) had been bugged, and after several wipes realised. I couldn’t be revived, every time someone tried I would insta die before I would get up off the floor, and I couldn’t heal myself, using potions, spells etc would not move my health.
AGS support was really good at quickly resolving this bug for me, but the amount of time lost contacting them and fighting through the encounter without realising I had this handicap added to the already frustrating realisation that there was a timer on this dungeon.
Fighting the final boss, and watching this inevitable ticking time bomb… well was the icing on top of the cake after an already long and tedious battle through the rest of the dungeon.
