Dungeon rare drop for your class

I have played several Depth runs yesterday (11 times) and today (4 times)= 15runs

Why is it so hard to get the main weapon for my class (tank), in this case Willing Sacrifice, I get all other rare weapons like fire staff, spear, ice gauntlet like 6-7 times on same weapon.

I also waited to get Thorpe´s helmet, but no drop of it, I did selected enough depth materia and craft it when got 1000.

Are sertain rare weapons or armor only get from crafting with materia?

And also can thorpes helmet be leveled up later on with gypsum?
