Now, i’m going to swear in this because i’m that pissed off that this is even a thing.
Was running a Dynasty Expo using my own tuning orb, taking 3 hours (not exaggerating) to find a group and get it done. When we got the the last boss, I died around 20-30% health left, was unfortunate but it happens.
TO MY FUCKING SURPRISE i’m left with a sour taste in my mouth as I am not rewarded any boss loot but the most egregious part was that MY FUCKING QUEST DIDN’T COMPLETE, A 35K EXP QUEST.
Do you know how bad that must feel?
Can you imagine the sour taste i’m left with?
WHY IS THIS EVEN A THING?
For the love of all MMO players, What the fuck were you thinking there?
If I am part of a group, even if i did zero damage to a boss inside the expo I should still get the rewards and quest completions. If you think this might bring issues of boosting, just make a level requirement for entry rather than a recommended level for Expo’s.
It’s weird since in literally any other case being in a party and at least having some involvement in the kill will give kill credit but in expiditions it just goes against the curve for whatever reason?
Each player gets one revive, which I am pretty sure is per checkpoint. So either his team didn’t revive him or he was revived once already. There are numerous ways to also keep yourself from dying as well, which is fill up your hot bar with 1 health, 1 regen and 2 high tier recovery foods, otherwise you can put wards/oakflesh on the bar to increase damage absorption temporarily. All coatings, honing stones and longer lasting defensive potions should go in your inventory and apply them before or during a phase change. The other way to not die is to not take hits (obviously) or to communicate with your group.
On top of which a good group would either not have had him die or would have run the dungeon again, which clearly was not present based on the completion time.
And he did get rewarded, he could loot the chests but not the boss lady he done died to, because… he died
Why does it matter if you die? It’s a team sport. This just encourages players to prioritize individual activity over group success in a group event. Why is the chest a reward but not mission completion? Missions never state that you have to not die, it states the group must clear it.
Let me put it this way
You playing Destiny 1 pre TTK
You are playing VOG Hard Mode
Your LFG member walks off the ledge on Atheon
Your deadweight can’t get revived and now are facing an uphill battle
You fight a glorious battle despite his constant calls for wipe
You win
Your LFG member gets Vex Mythoclast/Ghorn
You & Everyone else
Now do the same for Crota’s End raid which was even more punishing
It may be a team effort but after already being revived and dying again during the last boss means you are a dead weight to an already terrible team. If you die outside of an expedition you also don’t get the credit if the group kills it unless your respawn is right where you died, because your contribution is reset.
And in the expedition, the credit range is much smaller as well, which is why I miss 1 bone for Barkimedes in both Amine, Starstone and Depths with the alligator bones quest because I am holding the other guy off while the group deals with the other.

That makes negative sense. If it motivates players to stay and help your group stay alive so they don’t hear the whining when they didn’t get anything. OP wasted his revive because he died again.

Yeah, you can be there for 99% of the boss and then dying wouldn’t net you a completion despite you participating, might even be carrying? Just becuase the tank gets blown up a second time .2 seconds before the boss dies doesn’t mean he didn’t contribute.

Don’t have to ever hear whining. That’s what the leave group button is for. Nobody is asking for an After Action report on Armine.

Wrong. All loot drops aren’t based on indivual DPS. That’s outside a group. 15% group threshold is the requirement. 6 groups can get drops on a non-instanced boss for example.
Why bank on altruism when you can just reward group behavior?
The game can’t account for the hundred reasons somebody might die on the last boss battle. Trying to regulate it is pointless. If you contribute anything you contributed. Black and white.
That was actually my only death. It was an instant kill as I was basically flung from one attack into another while in a downed state killing me off, no chance for a revive. And that’s not the point anyway, even if I had died much sooner, the fact still remains that you don’t get rewarded as the group like you do outside expo’s, I honestly don’t care about the boss loot as losing that isn’t a big deal but losing out on completing a group quest/expo because you died is just a no go in any MMO.
Guys , you are looking for some logical sense but i bet it is 100% bugged , or 100% stupid

And yeah , if you didn’t get quest it has to be so much frustrating because you needed to try hard to pass the dungeon
Expeditions are very hardful , it is more like raiding for me not typical dungeon , and i love it
And that’s the reason why there such a thing cannot happens, expeditions are hard and you should always get reward and quests. It’s not hardcore mode for such a penalties

This just happened to me. After using my orb for a random group in the Depths expedition we got 3/4 of the way through Commander Thorpe only for me to get insta killed by his leaping move, then I get insta killed again by an AOE the second my teammate picks me up. Because of this I miss out on the main quest objective/xp and any boss loot. That’s wasted time I’ll never get back and have to do all over again with a new random group. Not mentioning this is the 2nd time I’ve ran this expedition with no real reward because the 1st time I had 2 members rage quit after losing to Thorpe. Real fun.
Feeling the same here but as a players now we need to find a solution what about if someone die last boss just wipe reset it will be the most reasonable thing to do even if boss is a 5%.
I don’t want to think people will let you die at last boss just to secure the loot.
