Economy Is Broken!

On a medium sized server and in the main trading Hub Everfall. 7th page and still under .05 gold!

Infinite resources will do that to an economy. Why buy something when you can just pull it out of your pocket or more recently just spawn it in with chat commands?

Just players losing gold to list stuff, nothing to see here. Dropping on the ground is an option people!

It’s probably the same sort of people are the ones complaining that there’s no ways to generate gold in this game. The kind with no financial understanding.

The problem is that everyone has can do everything so nobody needs anything. Why buy a potion when I can make one. Same with weapons, armor and add to that the fact that I can mine, harvest and fish so I don’t even need to buy the raw materials.
They wanted a ‘player controlled’ economy but then flooded it with equipment that is better than what can be made and again since everyone can do everything; nobody needs anything.

Yea this is not a problem in albion. I’ve been a profitable miner/ refiner and potion crafter for 2200, every item I’ve crafted has sold.

Yeah too many finished items drop, along with salvage coin return not even covering crafting taxes. There’s a couple things they could do, increasing coin from salvages would probably be the easiest.

This only holds true really for the low level stuff or easy pickings.

Especially in terms of the actual crafting skills, there’s very few who are leveled up high enough in all of them to be self reliant. And a lot of players unlikely ever will go down that path. The time it takes to level the actual crafting skills to 200 isn’t exactly a short one. To be fair, I still haven’t actually seen any proof of even a single person being there yet. Although I have seen a few with several at 200, we are talking the kind of players with like 500+ hours in.

With that said, at least on the server I’m on there is an economy in really not that bad of a state. Actual high end stuff sells for expected figures, T5 crafting gear for example having pieces which can go for e.g. 2k+.

And even many lower resources do tend to sell for decent amounts. Sure, there’s plenty of trash as well. But that’s to be expected. A lot of crafted pieces in particular just hold no value. Their only real purpose is just to level the crafting skills.

Currently you can be 100% self-reliant with 175 in each gathering skill (100 for fishing) and 150 in each crafting skill (200 In Cooking, which is trivial to do). That isn’t too difficult, or expensive. The small differences between 520 and 600 GS isn’t going to make or break anybody, even in Wars. Some skills are not worth leveling to 200 because of Broken/Non-existant drops for Legendary crafting materials (Weaponsmithing, Arcana).

If you want high Gear Score items the fastest, cheapest, and most effective method right now is to grind out your Watermark in Myrkgard or Outpost Rush. And I’m saying this as someone who joined the game looking forward to the crafting aspect. I’ll still pushing all to 200 b/c that was my goal, but I know now its a complete $$$$ losing venture.

That made me laugh. the sheer quantities of stuff you need to get to even 150 in, say, engineering, is enough to make the average player scream.

I suspect a lot of the more casual players won’t be getting near 150 in a few never mind 175.

there is quite a large difference between 520 and 600, but once people work out how to increase their GS then we’ll see more even distribution in a while.

Plus lower than 580 drops will sell for almost nothing shortly as the market will be flooded with them.

the only craftables are 600 for which you need the schematic or loads of very rare mats - can’t wait for the queues at the high end materials spawns…

Depends on your server. On mine the economy is garbage so most things sell for next to nothing. The only one that is actually difficult to get to 150 is Furniture making the sheer amounts for that are just insane. Like going from 150-200 in some other skills.

Also 580 was the benchmark for “sellable” gear on my server as of yesterday. The Grind Train never stops over in SM, and with Outpost Rush now active the 600GS benchmark should be reached over the weekend.

this game needs to have an NPC where to sell your stuff as you go waist couple of hours farming for nothing if nobody will buy your stuff.

The problem is it’s new. Some people list without thinking because there is no YouTube video yet that breaks it down for them. We got flooded with low level stuff when everyone was… yep you guessed it lower level. Things will balance out in time, some things will never have value and some that have insane value now may drop within reason later.

Add in all the transfers and the bugs and we got some time before we see a market that makes a bit more sense. Some balancing by AGS at some point would help too.

The fact people seriously need a youtube video telling them “selling something for less that it cost is bad” is beyond fucking belief…

Not everyone pays attention to the cost of listing, obviously, so ya believe it. Some day they will catch a video, read a forum or reddit post and learn it. Or maybe some don’t know you can just drop stuff that is not worth it, who knows.

It gives you a pop up saying you will make a loss when it sells…

Don’t understand why that’s surprising for you at the stage the games in?.. Here’s a wild idea. Buy all those mats for dirt cheap and 200 all your skills before rawhide turns into an entire coin a piece… :exploding_head::exploding_head::partying_face:
