Seems to me like leaderboards were more about testing & implementing a collaboration with Omni than the actual addition of leaderboards.
Leaderboards probably seemed like a good way to test that collaboration.
Could be done again in future developments.
(Mentioned in the latest Forged video)
By the way - it’s the last thing I wanted as well, just saying what I think they were doing. Combat balancing, bugs, all way higher up on my list.
maybe it’s that way, but bad timing to test such things. The game is not in a state were could get any benefit from a leaderboard rather than any of the other critical things. Even when they state that “they have separated teams and the leaderboard won’t consume resources from other developers teams” i find it sad.
I dont blame them from trying or bringing something new, i blame them for the lack of critical thinking and their awfull timing.
collaboration is almost always good, but it would be better if they aim that kind of things to more impactfull things to the game, such as balance, better or more content, better communication and so on
It is true that leaderboard should be there when there are rank and unranked, but even if they input the 2 different mode, it will divide the players because there is apparently no cross-server queue for now, it will be even harder to find game.
yeah i forgot to mention that, something that they took so lightly was spoiling incoming nerfs without more information, THAT kills the economy. I see tons of new world videos on youtube with titles such as “Dont craft any light armor, dont do this, stop crafting” and so on.
agree 100% with you, the order of priority should be cross server( to avoid long queues), ranked - casual (to avoid people complaining about sweatfest) then leaderboards to bring something to the table for the people that want to ranks
Those ? the one you mean ? Who got one like - ok some might have asked for it but the thread you have been repeatedly posting is probably not a wise choice
How so? The huge spike in players that we had after brim seems to indicate that it was a success, but the perceived lack of content, among other things, saw a ton of people leave (from everywhere, not just FSS). Also, the existing FSS are doing about as well as 99% of the normal servers, which is to say they are mid pop.
FSS was not a failure, the failure was the lack of content and communication that came after that. FSS brought a lot of players, new and old ones, back to the game. But you can’t make them stay forever with “New content coming SOON tm”.
Everything comes to the exact points im saying in my post, bad timing. If FSS came after they fix balance, communication and lots of things would be a huge success and we could be talking about a resurgence, but no, they did FSS and nothing afterwards.
Even the winter event was almost the same as last year, that includes the same bugs that they had last year.
I liked what Healer said here. Also by removing all the chest that allowed for people to get them solo the developers are basically telling people they either have to play 24/7 or not play at all. The latest chest removal hurts the casual weekend players and does nothing for the economy.
the fun part is the more brainless activity such as elite areas were not afected by this, meaning people will still zerging elite zones just spaming 1 and e to loot chests. This enforces the solo players to play like zombies on a zerg.
Personally I’ve only seen a few people actually wanting that and they are specifically in AP servers I think, they only have one FSS and one legacy server and both are extremely low pop. West is probably next to be in that situation. Everyone else is asking for transfers between FSS.
