I think they want a “Player driven economy” and no matter how disastrous it is or becomes that’s what we have now. They also mentioned something about immersion and realism with a dash of fantasy here and there.
Earning money and not being able to spend it on what you want and how you want isn’t going to sit well with the players imo.
With a flawed gamedesign that lets Them Set taxes.
Games are ment to improve over time, changing this would be a Big improvement for the Game.
Because right now, people Starting to Play would literally Take months to Reach an compareable Equipment Level as Territory Owners. That wont keep Them motivated.
But the Game needs New Players, so it should be changed.
Getting mad at someone for having something you want and don’t have is just jealously. Despite the fact that you have the ability to go earn the very same thing, some people choose to be angry about it.
I think it’s this whole “Equality” concept that’s going around (an actual virus). Everyone should be equal regardless of effort, skill or talent. lol…
If they want to make it realistic then they could potentially change the way upkeep is done.
Instead of the system they have now, they could work on a bracket system
Low income city - 0-10% tax/upkeep
Average income - 10-25% tax/upkeep
High Income - 25-40% tax/upkeep
A way to give more money back to the players could be that the upkeep missions in the town board use the company’s bank. So instead of the money coming from the game it’s coming from the company. This could also be in a bracket. Better City means bigger rewards
Except that’s not how this works. The guys that grabbed ef first are usually still owning it, and have coined in millions, making it almost impossible to ‘go earn the very same thing’.
In fact, it’s almost impossible to wrestle away control from one of these companies because their roster is full of maxed out toons with everything and they have effectively bottomless pockets compared to any challengers.
Not to mention I looked at the economy of one of the servers which has had high population throughout, and it’s quite clear the controlling faction has pushed prices through the roof whilst controlling the entire economy and being able to manipulate the price for all end game gears.
