I see quite a few articles on what player damage types are but not nearly enough on what PvE damage is. I’ve also seen the list of resistances per mob type which I believe is:
What PvE monsters have Elemental Melee / Non-Ranged attacks? I’m genuinely curious.
I’ve peaked at some YouTube videos and the damage marker for all boss melee attacks do not seem to be elemental - all physical. Is there a range requirement? If you use a ranged action point blank, does it still take affect?
I guess my point is that, for PVE, if all melee attacks are physical than Elemental Aversion effectively works for all elemental attacks.
Elemental aversion in pve works for mutated ones.
Since non-boss mobs, 50% damage is converted to elemental.
and ranged enemies (archers, musketeers etc) do 50% physical damage 50% elemental damage of the mutator type.
Aversion does not work for melee damage, but for range damage it does.
In mutations it works on the ranged attacks, also it protects you from some of the mutation effects like fire explosions. Some bosses have ranged elemental attacks like the final boss in dynasty does a lot of ranged void attacks, there’s a few other instances where elemental aversion actually is good to have.
Ancient archers standard attack deals arcana damage.
So elemental avversion is applied on 100% of their damage even in mutations when they “chose” standard arrows.
Their triple shot skill is thrust instead so elemental avversion will apply only to 50% of converted damage in mutation
As a Tank you can farm Colossal Stormplate.
It has elemental avversion + ward
As light melee I like Forgotten protector chest:
If you rise arcana resistance (maybe on amulet) you will be more resistant to Lazarus 1 shot mage spamming blue balls and arcana pools , archers, throwed spears, Cilla magic attacks, Chardis laser and Chardis arena pools. Even in mutated version arcana damage is there.
Healer might benefit the most couse archers are his nemesis
Focus version of Forgotten protector set is in light. Some pieces of this might be with it:
Thanks for all the replies! I can see there are many use cases for Elemental Aversion
My main question really boils down to if there are ANY elemental MELEE attacks. Which appears in mutations this is true - melee attack damage will be split in to physical + element of the mutation.
I’m still a bit curious how many elemental attacks are considered range.
Is “standing in fire”, or other ground based attacks, ranged?
Is DoT damage applied by a ranged attack ‘ranged’? Is all DoT damage ranged (outside of bleeds)?
