Elites & Expeditions more Solo friendly

*By Elites I mean the big Elite bosses.

As a solo player I would love to see changes made to Elites and to Expeditions to make them solo friendly. With Elite enemies especially it would be amazing if their stats changed depending on the amount of players attacking and/or players assisting others by healing/buffing.

Also with Elites, I was thinking it would be awesome if each Elite had a set of rare droppable weapons/armor that could only be obtained from defeating them. It would be especially cool if said weapons/armor scaled with your level so you wouldn’t have to wait until level 60 to go for them. This would definitely give you something to do if you wanted a break from other activities, plus it would be possible to do by yourself if the above addition of Elite scaling was added.

As for expeditions, it would also be great if you could go solo in them and the amount of enemies/difficulty scaled with how many players entered the expedition.

There is elites enemies all over the map starting from level 25. No need to be 60 to start beating them.

Those zones are some kind of solo “expedition” if you don’t do them in group.

It would be terrible I think to do that. I think it’s is normal to require a large group to deafeat strongest ennemies. If you can finish Dungeons alone, it will loose all interest.

There is only very minimal amount of group content, the majority you can do solo. I really don’t think there is a need, especially since this is a multiplayer game and certain aspects should require multiple players.

but do they increase your GS? Sometimes I only want to PvE to increase my GS. And the only way to do that right now it seems, is on content I have to group up to do.

The Games a MMORPG not an RPG

Except you get repeatable labelled-as-solo quests to go defeat a named Elite and they are entirely unreasonable.
I got a “Level 17” quest to go kill an Elite. Turned out it was in a Level 20 area. And I watched it destroy a Level 31 hammer player in literally seconds.
I dashed in to help, opening with some Life Staff powers and it (plus nearby mobs) all turned on me. It took a couple of steps to me then for whatever reason decided to go into Retreating and reset.

A lot of named Elites are overtuned. And sitting in areas with too-high mob density. And occasionally bugged.

You cannot kill all Elite monsters of your level. But you can run and rush chests for the quests. Usually you can solo elite area if they are 10 lvls less than your level.

Daddy Bear can be solo at lvl 50 but before it’s really hard. But anyway it’s not the problem. We need more solo content without nerfing the multiplayer content, we can have both.

If anything we need more small group PvE content, not more solo content

But you are intended to. The quest was clearly marked SOLO and it came with a level rating.

People can’t even get groups together for Expeditions. What’s next? Group finder for solo repeatable missions?
There are already repeatable missions for Elite Areas, which are overland areas meant for 5-man groups. That’s more than enough and they are already a pain in the ass.

True it is a MMORPG but they are advertising that it is designed so that solo players can still enjoy the game. What I am suggesting in this post wouldn’t make the game any less enjoyable for players who like to play in groups.

It would make the game less enjoyable for everyone. The current requirement to organize a group for Expeditions/Elites puts a needed slowdown on how much Legendary gear comes into the economy.

If it’s all soloable, the no-lifers will do nothing BUT Elites over and over until those items flood the market and are worth nothing. Gear Score on my server is already approaching 570, 550 is expected in wars and anything less is considered to be garbage. With your plan GS would have been 600 a week ago.

The workable idea is having different drops based difficulty, but that won’t be good enough. The solo crowd will demand that the drops be equal else it’s not really solo-content, but a watered down version of the group content.

The only problem I have so far is with the Expeditions and the fact that “Story” content is locked behind them. The expeditions could have existed as maybe side-story instead of main but, it is what it is now and I don’t think that’ll ever change.

Like others have said here though, there’s very little content as it is that requires you to group up and it could do with a lot more because the solo-able content heavily outweighs the group content currently. And I say this as a manly solo player myself.

Except 600gs can only be crafted or dropped from dungeons that require hours of farming to make the orbs. Even then the portal chests that drop those mats are disabled.

I don’t agree with the expeditions, those are supposed to be for groups and that is ok. My problem is with those main story elites in cave, where you can’t go if you are not doing the quest. When eventually most people will finish it, there will be no-one to group with new players for the quests.

I don’t think there is a serious problem with Elite. If you go on peak time you always find other players on Elite areas to help. If not on peak time you can just reset the mission and get a new one after 4 min

If you spec something other than pure dps you can. Either tank or healer can solo elites with relative ease. If you go a hybrid Paladin spec instead you can easily solo anything except certain bosses, and some of those only because other nearby ranged mobs (looking at you tentacles near the Priest in Great Cleave) that you can’t always kill again without resetting the boss.

I regularly run around places like Malevolence to get elite chests solo, killing anything I encounter.

I get what you are saying there, but at least for me it wouldn’t have that effect. I don’t use the trading post. All the extra armor and weapons I get I breakdown for repair parts. Though I could see other people using it as a gold hack. They could just make it a limit of one of each rare drop per player though to limit people from grinding the elites for gear to sell.

I don’t have a problem with elites currently as they are, but I do think AGS could look at soloable versions or even public dungeons like in ESO where anyone can run in and do them without needing to group up.

yes, your content shouldn’t be “gated.”

the same way anti-PvP players say content shouldn’t be “gated” by PvP.

But yes, I would like for you to play the game how you want. I don’t see any issue for you to go into a dungeon and access the content. You should be able to do it and it doesn’t effect anyone else.

People can stilll go into it with a group if they want.
