Enchance Community Please

I started this Post because I think New World’s social features are far from perfect.

It’s hard to talk about the game normally when several forums are constantly flooded with people complaining that their leg hurts.

For this reason, I would like to suggest a few changes that New World community administrators may consider.

  • More forums for a specific topic. For example, forums for recruiting into guilds. Forums to discuss builds. Forum for Crafters. And so on. Thanks to this, players who do not want to read the continuous complaint feed will be able to talk about interesting topics.
  • Make it easy to log into forums. The game is available on steam, so why is there no login with a steam account. This can be combined with the creation or linking of an existing amazon account.
  • Less languages, more content. As I mentioned in the first point, a greater number of thematic forums will make it easier to navigate the community. There is no point in diluting threads into different languages, as a result people create five threads on the same topic only in other languages. We are in the 21st century, most of the world knows English, or at least the Google translator’s address.
  • Automatic login from the game. In the IT world, mechanisms of transferring sessions between applications are known. Why not apply them to make it easier for people to get help on the forum straight from the game?

My suggestions are not difficult to implement. I know because I am a professional programmer myself. Think about it because sometimes you don’t want to visit the game forum because all you can find is the crying of dissatisfied kids.

This game has fans who want to play and contribute to development, but we are still drowned out by a bunch of frustrated people.

Peace!

I think forum use beyond read only should be limited to people with a verified license for the game - and if someone requests and receives a refund then forum access should be immediately be lowered to read only.

I can’t agree with this, it’s an over the top Ameri-centric view of a game with data centers and clusters scattered across the globe to do what - eliminate a few jobs and save some disk space?

Great idea, it’s been used in other games very successfully.

Of course, my post was not intended to provide a detailed description of the proposed solutions, but to draw the attention of community managers to the problem.

The first time I came to the forums, it was because I assumed, like every other MMO i’ve ever played in 20 years, there would be a forum with server-specific pages for things like group and company recruitment. I was kind of shocked to discover that was yet another incredibly basic MMOs 101 thing that was forgotten. TBH, I haven’t encountered a game that only communicates with its players via a forum with a horrible format (and I’ve been told theres a discord but I’m unclear if thats in any way official?) that was not super sketchy. Usually thats the realm of very small, low budget games done by indie studios. They need to wholly revamp the purpose of the forums - its wild there is no actual community forum for servers to organize events and recruit etc, and its even more wild that a “serious company” like AGS thinks its acceptable for 99% of their updates and communication on major bugs and turning off major features in the game are forum posts, with no in-game communication - bugs need their own section, separate from everything else, so one can hit “Latest” and not simply be drowned by spam.

Because this is by far and away the easiest thing for AGS to address, I assume it will not be touched for several more months at least, if ever.

However, in response to your complaints about all the complaints, the common white knight response ironically applies here  as the knights love to say “if you dont like it, you can play another game” - well, if you dont like constant complaints of bugs and dead servers in the forums, you are welcome to go play a game that is working functionally with healthy server populations, and I assure you you won’t run into all those annoying posts about bugs
