My sword and shield / Battle axe dosen´t lose durablity when swaping, so i think it is a bug
You can have a useful weapon with focus points. Don’t need to have 2nd weapon without abilities (since you can’t use 2 sets of the same abilities) xd. A focus rapier will give you ways to avoid damage, a 2nd life staff will give you exactly nothing.
This doesnt makes sense when other weapons doesnt consumes lol, I’ll just try using Lifestaff/rapier then
@Pax_Arcana Thanks for clearing that up. Yes, we want a thorough description as we are invested in receiving as much feedback as possible to provide to our team. This always helps because we want the players to know that we are listening and gathering as much feedback as possible. The durability feature is there to bring realism into perspective. When you draw weapons over a certain period of time, their materials tend to degrade. This is why we suggested any thoughts on how the community feels we can improve this feature. Just removing it does not help, because some players do enjoy the realism aspect of it, and finding materials to then repair their items. If you wish to, please provide something you think can improve this feature.
Using abilities, using light/heavy attacks, blocking, taking damage, being hit - doing anything combat related - should lose durability.
Swapping weapons, equipping/unequipping items, just wearing items doing nothing, etc should never lose durability.
As for what actually decrease durability that should not, I believe this weapon swapping case is the only one I’ve heard of so far.
Although thinking about it, if it decreases durability when swapping, it would probably decrease when equipping the weapon from inventory too (maybe some1 with a bugged weapon can test that one too).
exactly lol
But if that was intended feature, then I would expect all weapon to degrade when swapping, not just some. Don’t think anyone would like it being that way though.
Lifestaff/GA/Hatchet/Gaunlet(maybe)=Consume 1-2 durability when swapping
Firestaff/rapier/spear=Doesnt consume did u know that?
I believe that you can disable such durability lose mechanics. Item repair is already the greatest gold sink in the game, and in most cases if we go for a hunt, we are ending up with 15 gold + a few useless item that we are salvaging for 4 gold in total + a few repair parts, but from the other hand we have to repair our gear for 16-28 gold × 3-6 (tier III gear not even top tier) So the math is clear; the role playing players will have to gather up the above mentioned repair parts + managing some gathering trips where IF they can find something useful, they could have a chance to sell it to cover the repair cost.
It is out of this world to imagine that anyone in this earth would miss durability lose due to weapon switching. It is not like as you never lose durability beside switching weapons.
This mechanics is simply annoying and not needed.
If you want role-play like
bring realism into perspective
why don’t you implement mechanics are:
- ice / water dmg rust melee weapons / heavy gear (0.xy%)
- shield bash and other bludgeoning dmg skills break wood bows, staffs. (0.xy%)
- slashing dmg would damage cloth / light gear (0.xy%)
- fire and void dmg damage leather gear (0.xy%)
Here you go gold since due to repair cost implementing " realism into perspective" not like gear dmg from death (?) And weapon switch is clearly seems a bug. With a great respect: do not try to smuggle some content behind it
Gear repair is the real struggle in this game. But well, lets see how it will turn out at end game, maybe the concept is super positive and will rise a healthy economy - we will see.
But one thing is sure: gear repair is the: “the king is naked” in-game mechanics that was not much mentioned till the few million hours beta steaming from hundreds of different steamers.
When players are selling refined materials for 0.3 gold / each and they will have to pay hundreds of gold at end game to repair their purple gear set - there will be surprises. Lets see how it will plays out. How many player will pvp all day long and die 100 times / day.
And once more:
- due to weapon switch that trigger a skill receiving durability loos and by switching other weapons do not trigger the mechanics is a mistake in the code - not a content - have to be fixed.
And a question:
- Is it possible that every even time when someone is dodging with a weapon that activate a passive skill by “dodge” is burning durability?
- Is it possible that as many passive buffs, rebuffs someone is -lucky enough - to trigger till a fight actually burning his gear dura and he is paying with gold for every even passive skill? Let it be buff / debuff?
IF that is true, in that case there will be a few days of coding before the next upcoming major patch I guess
All the best! The game is superior! I love it, I promote it, but bugs have to be handled even due to the best game right?
Realism is thrown out of the window when discussing a video game that has zombies. lol Regarding the overall durability issue though, as mentioned already, the durability loss needs to apply to all weapons or none at all. Notable, I haven’t read anywhere that people are happy in repairing their gear, I’m sure there are some out there, but I haven’t read anything regarding it. Odds are, it’s more about a gold sink than anything else.
@Biochemikas Definitely understand where you are coming from and this is why we engage with our community. I have made sure to note this down and it has been provided to our dev team for further review. We thank you for your time!
Why? You only get the stats on the Weapon when it is active. The 2nd Weapon smaller Weaponbox in the right bottom window is inactive and doesn’t provide anything besides optic
@cartographer.dna We love to see this and we thank you so much for your appreciation of New World. We can tell just how invested you are in providing feedback for us to get over to the dev team for review. I assure you this is not an act of smuggling but rather engaging with the community to note the thoughts and the ideas of our players.
I assure you the team has never stopped working and questions and suggestions like this are what will allow us to continue the improvement of New World. I have noted a large amount of information and provided it to the dev team. We hope you will continue to enjoy New World!
and… theres another bug, if you drag a weapon to equip 1 or 2 doesnt matter, it will consume 2 durability >.<
@scl011 Thanks for spotting this out for us. Can you please let us know if this only occurs in a specific part of the map or if it occurs in any area of the map? Does it happen when you attempt to drag all weapons or just a specific weapon?
Thanks for your time!
The user complaining is losing durability on swap because they have equipped the passive ability “Sacred Protection” in the healing tree. This ability activates when you swap to the life staff to provide +5% extra healing “While holding a lifestaff gain extra healing”. This is not a bug, it is using durability because it is applying a buff. @scl011 does not seem to comprehend the legitimate explanation that’s been offered.
Not that I wouldn’t mind less durability loss, I am also a life staff user and this has not been an issue.
@DankHoneyOil We appreciate your insight and overview of the issue that is being expressed throughout this thread. Our team is aware of durability loss impacting our players, whether it is due to abilities being equipped or not. I made sure to move information directly to the team to review to see if there is anything that can be done about this.
If you do notice anything else within the game’s features or bugs, please do share it with us because we have the correct channels to get your information directly to the devs as this will improve New World for all of the community!
any area of the map, just test it, All you have to do is simply drag weapon on main 1st or 2nd weapon and drag to main one or 2nd, it will consume 2 durability
i should have done the video before maintenance
trust me man, so many greens drops you will be begging to repair gear.
i just talked to a staff and they said its a bug and amount of players noticing too now
