I dont think its a big deal = I havent gotten many trash BIS epics. And the odds of getting that and the third perk are not that great.
I don’t see this ruining the market. What it will do is drastically remove the value from BIS items and transfer that value to the materials that can make that item. That being the two perk combos that may upgrade to it. This will also create a secondary market for all those useless 2 perk items you make trying to craft one as a crafter. Instead of a feast or famine scenario where the folks with an exponeitial amount of free time or real money become winners by playing the lottery this will make the value of items a lot more consistent with the items that are BIS or could be being valuable and the other items going down. So RNG drops will still be trash, attempts at BIS crafts will be worth something where they arent now, but BIS items wont be as valuable and will be more commmon.
The latter opens a lot more gameplay options for everyone, its a huge quality of life for everyone except those who attained it the harder way or used RMT. It also allows for more frequent meta shifts without screams from the players.
The problem wont be the gear itself it will be keeping the hardcore sweaty players entertained and engaged when having BIS and chasing it isn’t as long of a road and that should be fixed with better cosmetics that are exclusively rare as the previous BIS items.
95% of perks are trash so I wouldn’t worry about the economy being ruined. Keep in mind that people will have to do the content to get the chests and then hope they get a 590 piece of gear and then use shards to upgrade to 600 to see if it’s good or trash. So it’s not like it’s going to be instant and god rolls every time lol, just like it’s not god roles guaranteed by crafting.
It’s just another way for people to work towards getting good gear by doing the content they want to play instead of doing pve to make gold to buy the gear etc. Those who want the gear quicker will still purchase the gear from the market though.
Dont need more trash perks. Rumor is they nerfed the number of purps in OPR boxes and there are more greens/blues (I havent tested). Plus, the umbral cost to increase gear from 590 to 600 is increasing. You have to spend umbrals to unlock 3rd perk, and chances are it will be trash. Plus its bound to you at that point. There will still be plenty of RNG and grind in the system, this is a small step toward making it better.
Bro they’re creating a demand for umbral shards that can only be supplied by expeditions. It won’t change too much for crafters because people who plays pvp don’t like to pve and vice-versa.
And RNG is so bad that is more likely to achieve bis gear with scarabs than opr caches.
It’s just another update to make people think that they’re doing something for the game.
