Every picture tells a story, don't it

can you imagine how difficult it’s going to be for new players to join a server like the one this is evolving into…

Actually a one-colour map is the best outcome as long as the settlement owners don’t try to grief everyone.
If everyone is in the same faction, there’s a lot of settlement stability and server stability.
OWPVP is entirely unnecessary. Just do instanced PvP like OPR or 3v3.
This sort of stability would be similar to what you see in so many other MMORPGs where there is zero OWPVP and faction war on the main map where players play in. In those games, players have the confidence in server stability to invest in long-term play, developing not just their characters but housing and furnishing.

A lot of server issues, exploitation, and RMT are due to the system of player-controlled settlements.

As for new players, it’s actually really easy. If the server settles on one faction, they get a free first faction change into any faction, even the dominant one IIRC.

that changes every now and then, cuz the good pvp’er get bored, swap faction etc etc etc

you’re only seeing 1/2 the picture

Imbalance is inevitable. This is why the UnderDogo in Aion got a vicious Buff with +10% attack/HP. And the Balaur(mob) attacks Also could take over Forts.

There’s no anti-monopoly checks in NW and they literally got the assets for it. Like corrupted invasions. Half-assed content. They need to get progressively harder and do more damage the longer a city is owned by the same company. Or allow players to attack alongside mobs…

No. I play this game partly because of the owpvp threat.

purp lost its last territory, server pop takes another big hit and now the server is just dead.
