People may be clueless to game design but most of us have jobs. Imagine being contractor or even just a normal employee and being either asked to do something by your boss or say hey I can do this for you do whoever your working for. Then when you either fail or take way longer than expected, you just make a bunch of excuses over and over. How long till your out of s job? Ya not long. So the devs should stop making videos just making a bunch of excuses, and just let people know they are working on it and it’s coming, that’s what the majority of people want to hear.
People want to have reason to continue to play this game, have things to look forward too. That’s what the devs videos should be for, is to talk about up coming features and changes people don’t know about to get excited for and incentivize playing the game. The devs should also make videos talking about serious issues plaguing the game and how they aim to fix it. They shouldn’t just make videos just making excuses in hopes of having us feel bad for them. Then hope people don’t quit while waiting for them to make changes or add features that should been in at launch because oh look AGS made a video explaining why it takes 9 to a year months to make cross server opr a thing, or transmits, or changing colors on enemy AOES, so we shouldn’t quit.
They are literally not making any excuses in this video. They are simply explaining to people who don’t seem to realize that this stuff takes time to develop and incorporate into the game.
Do you not understand Scot’s door example?
And they’ve already let us know what they are working on, look at the roadmap and some small hints in recent videos. And some stuff might also just pop into the game at some point that we don’t know about yet, like the instruments.
I heard nothing but excuses. I love this game, it’s like all I play. I’m addicted, but I’m not going to sit here and pretend the game is in a good state when it isn’t. The devs make videos that are at the end of the day mainly excuses, trying to justify why things are hard for them to do things. They could be making videos talking about new features coming to get people excited and want to stick around. Not trying to explain or make excuses as to why certain stuff is so hard and takes a long time.
Well I love this game too, and I’m addicted to it. And I’m also not going to pretend it’s in a perfect state.
But did you play this at launch? It was REALLY not in a good state. But it’s progressed since then and become a whole lot better. And they are going to keep making it better.
The difference is, I have patience, and I can understand that this stuff takes time and needs to be tested properly in every aspect before it’s rolled out.
I have played every day almost since launch. Yes. The game has improved in a few areas, but still has huge issues plaguing the game that have never been fixed which why players keep quiting and quiting despite all the changes. Until they fix these glaring issues the keep ignoring the game will die. These little videos just filled with excuses just do nothing but add fuel to the fire.
i mean, its better to tell us about everything even if it gonna take a year, this make us motivated to play and grind, to get gold and stock mats but rn nothing rly to do for a lot of us
Ill just drop my yt comment here:
Make the company screen useful: add current gear score, weapons, armor weight and location; add company storage; display the gold limit; add the lvl watermark; add treasury and company storage logs… You already have half of those in the expedition lobby system, just port them over
There are a lot of immature people that post on these forums. A lot of people that werent around when Wow launched and experienced the same bugs, performance issues and lack of content.
The devs are explaining they want to push these new features out yesterday but they cant and the features that are coming out, were already in production and as a guess have not taken as long to complete, so may as well get them out and move on.
They have repeatedly said, pvp content is being worked on but they are not prepared to talk about it yet however they will soon.
new content takes time and that s fine! i think the issue most ppl r having is with priority, weapon balance and challenging, meaningful pve content with proper rewards don t need new tech, it s all there, just need tweaks and understanding where the game is at. But instead we will have exploitable leaderboards consuming devs time for how long?
20 years of a successful mmo, to look at its mistakes and learn from. Clearly they didn’t.
Ya they announced a road map with 0 pvp content going forward. Then after back lash and player numbers dropping heavily, they come out and say“ we’re working on stuff behind the scenes, we just can’t talk about it”
Just a bunch of PR trying to make the player base not as upset. I’m sure they are working on stuff but it will be 2 little 2 late. Games down to 30 players again. It was at 100k in November. By March we will be at 15k or less, unless they drop something huge but currently this ptr cycle just has leaderboards which currently will do more harm than good and some pvp combat changes yet to be announced so nothing of value to really retain players. If throne and liberty drops soon, the game will die, when lost ark came out the game dropped 30k players or more. The devs don’t do anything to address the issues plaguing the game. So yeah we complain, this game has the potential to be so much more, but the devs just keep dropping the ball.
I have never denied how complex it is or isn’t. That doesn’t mean it’s a good look making a video full of excuses. People just want to know what features are being worked on and when it’s coming. When your game is dying, and making videos like these isn’t a good look. Should be making videos talking about things to look forward to or things that might be improved in the game currently. Not just a bunch of woe me, things are hard to do to get out to our customers. Just creates more negativity and more less desire to play.
A couple of tips, the game will be fine and the first expansion is going to be huge. But they arent going to reveal everything, thats not how the entertainment industry works. Meantime you can see they are optimising the performance of the game and improving whats already there Quality > Quantity. Then when the expansion drops, the 1-60 experience will be finished months earlier, ready to embrace an influx of new players who are tired of cartoon graphics and tab target combat. Its clear there are many whining here because they can see the potential, this is going to be a great mmo soon, they just dont understand why they cant have it now. Hence the need for the videos to communicate and buy time. Bill Gates once said, video game programmers are amongst the most intelligent people in the world. Have some appreciation for how complicated it is.
Given the amount of content, balance patches and fixes that have been put out recently, the arguments in the video only make sense if you are running a 20-people team to support this game.
In that case, of course it will take 6 months to release cross-server OPRs
