Ok if its so bad just leave the hatchet and pick sword. No ? No playing without a second chance because you are light and want to dish out damage but still want survivability. And that´s the problem: you should have one but not both.

The problem is that they should change their whole build, class & combat system.
This game will never have the playability GW2 had.
This game will never have a good PVP because they decided wars must be scheduled, and their servers were going to be isolated (no cross-server)

There was a 4-5 month period when the Hatchet hitbox and desync were so terrible that virtually nobody used it–except when there was a ridiculous exploit.
I actually think Hatchet is in a fine spot right now. It’s the weapons it is paired with that are strong. Even as a survival crutch, it’s generally fine because there are a lot of things that counter it.
Well, then you dont know how to read, cause the whole point is, that hatchet, when paired with weapons that dont have much defense and arent OP, it does make them viable, not broken. And when paired with already broken weapons, well, you can do the math
Dont talk logic here, bad players that cant counter a 3 sec defy death need to think the weapon is the problem. The sad part is, most people that complain about hatchet are ranged players, that should counter a melee with ease, but they cant even position and kite well with a broken weapon
Well, if your talking about TTK, keep in mind hatchet is a melee weapon, while ranged has a really fast TTK from a safe distance. While hatchet can be kited easily, defy death can be countered by dodging 2 times, and that 3 secs is gone. I dont really understand how people really keep dying in that 3 sec window, they probably just dumb and want to all in for the kill, dont understand this is an action combat game, and dodge and timing is part of it.
You probably never played dex melee running light before, you literally get 3 shoted by anything, from muskets to bows, from GA to GS. Player keep talking about the massive damage from light, but if you are light melee, and not running 300 str, youre a pretty easy pray. While i agree light armor should take a lot of damage, it needs to be at least nimble, and the only light armor players that are nimble are ranged, light melee you already cant go even close to a clump of players, if a GS gets you, they just spamm atacks and you cant get away, if a ranged gets you, they 3 shot you.
The problem I have with GS/Hatchet, is that it’s the ultimate combo. It’s not just defy death, but the kit in of itself just practically rolls over most threats, and thus has too many hands in too many pies, so to speak. It has:
-The highest amount of melee damage possible.
-Strong defensive capabilities that boosts it’s survivability to an absurd degree, what with Life steal, higher DPS than most weapons, and a regen ability on both weapons to keep the player in the fight.
-Ridiculous reach/hitbox on GS spells, they also have an absurd startup animation that is faster than most people can react to, thus you have to react accordingly, and even so, if you block said attacks, like Skyward Slash, you’re immediately rewarded with a 10% Rend on yourself, because why not. That’s right, if you block the attack, you can take a fat 10%-15% Rend, depending on how they initiate the combo. Others like relentless Rush not only have a great range to it as well as AOE, it also can root, boost their movement speed by 20%, and put them into a damage mode that boosts their damage quite high, while also a perk to allow them to cleanse CC on themselves.
-As stated before, the weapon also has a solid toolkit for some CC that is more than enough to secure kills.
-Because of Berserk, it also has a solid CLEANSE that every other kit doesn’t have, meaning you can’t just simply shutdown said user, because they can just quickswap while stunned to activate berserk. So not only is this a great counter to most, it can suddenly counter tanks.
-Has built in Disease for Hatchet side if they wish to dabble in throw skills for a quick swap to weaken healers/tanks.
-Great mobility and Pulls for team fights with Roaring Rupture
Overall, the weapons are just ridiculous. It’s a combo that’s basically a “I can do everything a niche build does and better” class, which needs a serious nerf.
It’s true that all those weapons you named are broken, but there’s also the Axe… and I’ll explain why. Universally most people tend to use broken builds in MMORPGs, that’s always the case, it’s always a constant, if the AXE with all the weapons you named becomes a BROKEN build and the AX is also used by the crowd of people… So logically it’s also BROKEN.
It also becomes clearer that all the people who don’t use the AXE say it’s BROKEN, so it’s true, otherwise… all the people who don’t use the ice glove would say it’s broken but no this doesn’t happen
It’s because Hatchet is broken in the first place. Berserker each 15 seconds, with speed and dmg buff for 10 or 12 seconds long. On top of that, most broken thing in the game, which is Defy Death. It makes people play brianless, and braindead. They just go all in, and spam left click and abilities, cause they know they have “second chance” just in case…
So please, stop trying to blind us liek you are, cause it won’t works. Everybody can see now, that hatchet is broken,. And this is exactly why people are pairing it with everything now.
Kids these days… They try to be mustwins no matter what. Tell me, is your life really so boring that you have to win in pixel game with broken weapon each time? You can not just improve your skills? I am sick tired of running hatchet in panic, when their Defy Death is on. I am tired of freaking muskets and bows, which when I catch them, they just use their “free out of jail card”…

I am pretty sure you are rtalking from experience, cause as hatchet user, who probably pair that shit with another broken shit, like Greatsword, you are probably doing it yourself… why? because weak people choose easy ways to win. You choose hatchet. Please, just say no more.
And by the way, if you think that light melee fighter is valuable only with 300 str, then I can clearly see what kind of player you are, and I can tell you honestly: this game doesn’t need that kind of players.
Is it any sense for discuss with this guy? He is clearly defending hatchet ALL WAY he can, literally… and I find it kinda pathetic.
P.S. Skilled player with rapier/spear can defend bow player, musket player, greatsword or hatchet user, you can actually defend anyone with this build… Is it broken build? This one require a lot of skills, cause spear is predictible so you should know when to use it… about rapier, most people know how to run away with it, not how to fight with it… please change my mind.
build with hatchet/greatsword is doing the same job, but with much less effort, and being braindead. Just pop up berserker, chase someone, click click left left, and start swing heavy attacks with greatsword.

i mostly agree with what you said. hatchet itself isnt really the problem. GS makes GS/Hatchet incredibly strong. having a 3 sec panic button isnt really the issue

how would that change anything. in terms of melee chasing range, its the same scenario. melee slows range.
in terms of melee vs melee i dont see no difference. both slowing each other vs no one slowing each other
also light range isnt only musket/bow. theres magical weapons and blunderbuss who all count as range.
basically if those changes go through a mage will get slowed when attacked, slowed when attacking himself AND take more dmg because of whatever they do to shirking fort/resilient. which seems kinda brutal
Think you summed it up quite well. I am currently running LS/hatchet in OPR as it is quite effective against larger groups and the stupid GS hunter meta. However defy death is also stupid, so oh well ![]()
Even as a heavy melee you get 4 shotted - so ? The point about defy death is: people are not engaging if it goes off - they just pop berserk and run. So yes, you can go close to a clump, dump your rune of detonation and even get away with it unless a ranged shoots you in the back - not likely cause the ranged are busy stat padding on the clump you just left. And seriously i’m just tired of all those “oh did i overestimate myself ? np i got a hatchet”-runaways…
I take out the common denominator in builds which hatchet is used.
Which in this case almost everyone uses hatchet as a back bar weapon for survival (defy death), mobility(berserk) and burst damage as a finisher.
If the point of the game is to prove skill in PvP, then why have a weapon in Hatchet the provides a weapon perk which makes you invincible for x amount of seconds to survive? Whether that means attacking or fleeing.
It’s a crutch for survival that is abused on a mass scale.
Want to prove you are great with a hatchet you don’t need a perk saving you when you should have died.
