I think a crafting game could be fun, if the items you needed to craft things werent as rare as they are currently, especially the Iron part.
Close to every furniture needs shitloads of Iron, while i would like to ask the question where we should get those, when bots and other players farm those places empty almost all the time.
I currently have four stashes full of stuff, and do not really know what do to with all that materials, as the core part of almost every item to be crafted on a higher skill level seem to be very rare materials, and the progress in leveling a crafting skill is gated behind these rare items.
In general the costs for all rare ingredients need to be heavily lowered. And by heavily i would like to suggest to remove rare materials from most levelup crafts as like lower than tier v craftab le items. No more iron for low level furniture (which is not even immersive, noone needs 10 bars of irons for a wooden desk, to start with, but just some screws).
So, please AGS, go, and make the crafting game accessible and less rare-material dependend, would you?
iron isn’t rare, camped sure, but not rare. i know of dozens of nodes in the various territories, look around cliffs, rocky outcrops, and several of the mines with mobs has it.
Iron is all over the place in the starter zones. Yes, it’s camped at this point because players know where it is, and you need tens to hundreds of thousands of it for upper level crafts, but it’s not rare. It’s just over-needed relative to the supply, and the supply nodes are well known and noted, and therefore camped.
Bearclaw hills is the best spot for it, while the iron respawns you can kill mountain lions for the hide too, and just across the river to the west there’s a great iron run in everfall, with the fast travel there it’s the best farm spot I’ve found
Yeah no. I go through a ton of it and have to specifically farm it, but in about 10 - 15 min I can farm over 1000 iron ores because it is far from rare.
While I understand your frustration over not getting any iron for crafting; your issue isn’t that iron is rare, because it isn’t. I can farm 600 weight in about 15 minutes… I think your issue seems to be that it’s overfarmed currently. Keep in mind, it will get better as the space between player levels and trade skill levels increases. It’ll spike again when ppl cap their levels and circle back to grind trade skills.
Iron is going to stay relevant quite long. Which isn’t bad per se. But it’s not going to go away anytime soon really. And some things could be adjusted in terms of crafting recipes to scale this problem a bit. I mean, full plate armor and things like a wardrobe containing a few nails, take very similar amounts of iron in this game. Which is odd.
One iron bar creating like 50 iron nails, of which like 40 are used in a wardrobe, would have made more sense. And limited the pressure on iron a bit. Addition of e.g. bronze and brass could also help. Especially for cloth armor, bronze could be used for things like buttons instead.
