I love random events, Events that can affect the map, towns, and large cities. I would love to see more map events that can lead to towns being taken by the corrupted or random invasions by knights that could lead to them having patrols on the roads and an outpost in the area that is difficult to remove. I think this expands not just the endgame if you could make it affect crafting areas, gathering areas, and PVP areas, and it expands your whole leveling experience if you are seeing these events happen and seeing players having to gather together in order to run out of and deal with these issues. Random events that have real effects can really change the day-to-day grind and they don’t always have to be big things. The things we remember most could be that small interaction like an NPC on the road that challenges you to dual or other things. Listed below are just some of the ideas I think could really make the map more engaging and fun.
- Knights come into an area and if they aren’t wiped out they create an outpost that is there for a set amount of time or until a challenge is completed. They are able to send out patrols on the road that will attack everyone (The outpost could be reopened to attack if these patrols are killed.
- Having an alert pop up that a corrupted wave is about to attack a city (ex: Everfall). Players will need to gather at the gates and hold off these enemies or else the city could be raided and crafting areas could be set back and areas could be set on fire. (This could only happen if enough players were logged into the world)
- Sandstorm in brimstone that makes the area hard to see into that is spawning deadly creatures and could make its way to the city if certain pillars are not activated to hold it at bay.
