As a player who doesn’t PVP, so my company doesn’t own a terrritory and who strictly PVEs - the change to gold from expeditions will considerably nerf my main income source as a player. We’ve repeatedly given negative feedback about the chest runs and being forced to do them from expertise and now to need to do them to get 1k gold a day from chests.
I would propose the following changes to elite chest which would make it worthwhile for high level players to participate in this…
Drops from elite chests in level 60 zones - regardless of the area - should never drop gear that is lower than 590 gear score for a player with 600 expertise in that slot. Honor the 10 level rule. It’s okay if 590 stuff drops but not 589 or lower.
A person with 610+ expertise should be guaranteed purple loot for drops of that type from elite chests.
A person with 625 expertise should have an increased chance of legendary drops from elite chests.
Add a small chance to get the major combat trophy components from elite chests in level 63+ areas instead of them being limited to a few named NPCs. Hundreds of thousands of gold to purchase them or days of farming is not acceptable as is and this would support players wanting to run chest runs.
Collectively this would give us a reason to do chests at high levels - we don’t want to do it but we’d be rewarded and that would provide bodies to run these with lower level less geared players who run these for expertise.
With the change to reagents the need to run these chest runs for reagens is greatly diminished as it would be easier to go farm low level chests for the reagents. So while you added gold the main reason to run these t5 reagents are now available literally everywhere.
Who even asked for affecting the gold income from expeditions? Is this yet another “exciting change” to time gate people’s progress? These are genuine questions Im no PvE expert.
Days? I spent over 100 hours on the lost bane trophy guy and still didnt get a drop. I think I have only logged in few times to do dailies and logged right back out since then. That was weeks ago. Its disgusting. No reason for something that is only a 1% damage increase to be so rare.
This game is way too much grind for way too little reward. Even when you do finally get something it doesn’t feel good it just feels like an “about fucking time.”
Spent all the time and money to get all the luck shit and it doesnt even feel impactful.
okay bro. this is not an item that you absolutely need or that gives you a big advantage, as you say it only gives +1% dmg bonus. it’s just a ‘luxury’ item, if you have it it’s nice, if not then it doesn’t itch. every mmo needs items that are super rare, that not everyone has and that are worth a lot. so pls dont cry, its just fine as it is! be happy with your basic trophy.
Time and effort should be valued. 100 hours on a 2 minute spawn is ridiculous.
Just because I make a comment about a poor game design does not mean I am crying. What is it with people if they think something is bad its auto labeled as crying? Im not crying. I think its terrible design and I am leaving my feedback.
If things were fun and rewarding then perhaps more people would play the game. Spending over 100 hours on a 2 minute spawn to get 1 of 9 different combat trophy drops (yes I know they are not all from the same mob) is not fun or rewarding. Dropping 200k worth of materials over and over on RNG crafting just to get back a few gold worth of salvage parts is not fun or rewarding.
Just about everything in game is like this. Its either time gated, super rare, or RNG’d to piss. None of that is fun. It took me like 4 months of Laz runs just to get the bow. Thats not fun. I dont think shit should just drop from the sky but there has to be a good balance of time/effort : reward and there is not. Thats a big part of the reason a lot of people stopped playing. People want a game they can have fun in and waste some time not a game that wastes their time.
you dont get it. i can understand for weaponsmith pants for example, cuz they are needed. it sucks when you want crafting weapons, but you cant, because you didnt drop it or cant effort it. in this example you can say drop rate/rgn is shit whatever. but not for trophy mats, pls stop arguing about this. you are not forced to farm this, especially when YOU say +1% dmg boost is not worth it. so just dont farm it and do other stuff
back to the original post… i think for elite chest they should higher the droprate of legendary items and also named items (there are alot of sick named items out there), mabye some umbral shards and thats fine. this should attracted high lvl player to run chest runs more often
1% damage boost times 3 for your whole group minus tank and heals is about 4.5% to 7% of a groups dps output. That equates to 4.5s x 35m timer or potentially 140 seconds difference in a mutator run. For some people who are progressing that is the difference between gold and silver. Theres a reason people who can do m10 in 20m clears have majors and its not because major trophies are luxuries.
Their luxuries because of their cost.
Games should have luxury items like t4 houses, or mounts, or cosmetics, or titles but things that provide ANY sort of combat benefit shoukd not be that rare.
If you want to keep them that rare remove them from open world and drop them in mutators that are gated per week and tweak drops. But i guarantee the folks with no life selling these wont like having to group in the only content their needed for to farm them.
If your in this post talking about how 3% damage boost doesn’t matter and skill does and what people look for for mutators. Your lost and don’t get it. We aren’t talking about the elitist people at the top, we’re talking about the folks at the bottom these things are put in the game to help overcome those skill deficiencies.
You shouldn’t need ANY consumables or trophies or wards - you should be able to get through the content without any of that on sheer skill. And as the skill curve drops you have all those other things to help compensate.
If the elite players don’t need it and your saying it shouldn’t be more common for the people who could use and benefit from that… then why on earth even put it in the game?
Apparently its pretty much for no one because most people have already done that. Dont worry though. When they keep making decisions like this and the game nears death, you’ll be able to say “well at least they didnt make that trophy drop a little more often!”
Want rare things then give rare skins, titles, mounts, etc. Nobody is showing off their super special combat trophy.
