Expedition Keys NEED to go, not have their crafting costs reduced

Level 60 end game activities really fall into three categories:

  • HWM Grinding

  • Expeditions/Arenas

  • Outpost Rush PvP

I do enjoy outpost rush and with the upcoming changes on the PTR the gameplay there will gain new aspects (whether or not I agree with nerfs/buffs is besides the point)

The first time I stepped into myrkgard and joined a group of 30 people carving there way through it was fun and exciting. Now its not. There is absolutely nothing fun or engaging about mindlessly running circles in these elite zones where nothing except rng decides if you get something to increase your watermark or not. The fact that you cant even put together a 5 man team and work your way through them without having 20 people run up on you and cleave through it all is frustrating and the end result of all this is just an extremely boring, time consuming activity where skill and accomplishment play no factor into the reward, only luck.

Now in terms of expeditions, the designs, atmosphere and interesting encounters are great and diverse. They give you a sense of accomplishment on completion and (at least on my newer server) require strategy and teamwork to complete. This is how end game should feel, challenging and rewarding.

Now please tell me, I am on a low population server where corruption trains aren’t a thing and getting corrupted lodestones together can take weeks. Even with the crafting requirement reduced Im looking at 1.5/2 week intervals of farming these things for the lodestones. Furthermore these portals are just an extension of the myrkgard problem; monotonous, tedious, unengaging and just a boring waste of time after 60. Again, the only point is to run circles through repetitive content to collect an obscene amount of shards (or in Myrkgards case, lackluster loot).

After you manage to gather enough of these shards, level your stonecutting up to 200 and finally craft a key, you get to experience an expedition for an hour? What if people you go with disconnect and on a low pop server you cant fill the spots? Over a week of farming wasted? In what world does this make sense.

The entire design around these keys really needs to go. Dont lock the only really good end game content behind time gates that take over 500x the time as the expedition itself.

Make orbs improve luck in dungeons instead of being a key. Allow people to use multiple orbs if they want. So if 10X orbs are used in a dungeon, luck increases by X percent.

I think that there still should be tuning orbs but make them be for like a Hard mode version of the dungeons with better or garanteed loot. While the “normal” mode should be free but with lower chase for the high tier loot. That way we make the expeditions work for both casuals and Hard core players.
