Expeditions: What Ranged Damage dealer is decent / useful?

Hello,
After completing the first two expeditions and testing as much as I could, I would like to know more points of view and opinions.
I tested Bow, Musket, Ice gauntlet and Fire staff, but they all felt… mediocre (Bow and Musket felt BAD with all the movement of the enemies and tiny hit boxes).
So, in my opinion, all 4 options are Bad/ not useful for expeditions.

Let me know your opinions,
Thanks.

Fire staff can dish out a lot of damage as far as I’ve seen. Don’t know about the the ice gauntlet though. Bow and musket seem to be better for PvP than DD

For me, Bow has been doing amazing in expeditions, the burst damage in both aoe and single target is great, you won’t be optimal if you only use that one weapon however, switch to a spear, apply debuffs, roll back switch to the bow, shoot through the entire pack of mobs with 2k penetrating shots and poison them all before returning to the spear. That’s how my Amrine runs has been and It feels really good.

Been playing along with musket users who are having a blast as well in expedition, they don’t have as much aoe as the bow, but they apply other debuffs and have tons of utility with traps and grenades.

Yes, for Amrite it may work, but the next expedition has enemies resistent to fire, so Fire staff is out, that leaves the rest.
Bow and musket are fine before the pull, or at the start but once AoE is needed and the enemies are all moving chaotically, single target damage / light heavy attacks for staff and gauntlet are missing a lot / doing low damage.

I get your point, but think it’s perfectly fine that some weapons don’t perform as well in every situation… this is a rpg, not a “competitive equal grounds”. There is no reason not to pick an archer or a mage just because the ennemies are resistant in that specific dungeon, it’s still pretty easy to complete either way.

I agree, I may have exaggerated a bit, but the difference in damage output is really big
I continued testing / respeccing, if anyone has the inclination test yourself, it’s not only about the skills, but also the light and heavy attacks.
Anyway, I’ll continue experimenting as I get to higher levels, but the most upsetting discrepancy is not the Damage difference, but the Ease of use: melee weapons = easy, ranged require targeting and 3/4 have traveling projectiles.
