Understandably you can’t go from level 59 in the 400 something gear scores up to suddenly 600 GS at level 60. The expertise grind between 500 and 600 is meant to fill that journey. Unfortunately, that journey feels empty in a way and, as it stands, leveling your expertise from 500 to 600 doesn’t feel like it serves a purpose outside of slowing you down. I think this is partially due to the unguided nature of it. The clearest path is gypsum. The best way is expeditions and that’s great, but… At 500GS what expeditions can you do? A new 60 doesn’t usually know. There are 5 lvl 60 expeditions but you can’t just do any of them right at 60. You need a higher GS for to do them. How high? It’s not listed.
I think the journey should be more clear from expertise 500 to 600. Give the expeditions a clear order via recommended GS that is visible from the expedition menu.
Something like this:
Genesis - 500 to 530
Lazarus - 530 to 560
Barnacles - 560 to 580
Tempest - 580 to 600
Ennead - 600
If your expertise is within the range then gear that drops either has a very high chance to - or simply WILL - raise your expertise. Outside of the listed range gear will drop relative to your expertise with the normal chance at increasing it. The idea is that the player would know that they can do this specific content at their current gear score/expertise and have the best chance to increase their expertise.
I think this would improve the experience of the expertise grind and make it more like a cohesive journey through content rather than a random obstruction you have to surpass before you can do the things other level 60s do.
I do not know what they are doing. They have managed to break things that were fine in the 3 months I was gone. It used to be that when doing faction quest if it called for looting chests the chest would be able to be looted for the quest even if you had looted them previously you would just only get quest reward. Now the chest just stay locked preventing you from doing the faction quest.
I do not care about money, but I am done wasting time pointing out all the issues for free, when they do not get addressed.
But you can start from 500 gs you buy items for 1-2k gold and you just do genesis all day long until your GS 600 done.
P.S. i hate things like Gear score it feels like game think you are stupid player and you need so guide lines to do stuff. Even in mutations if you your gear score is 4 points lower you don’t do damage and you get a lot more. But if you up that number by 2 points all the sudden you are strong again even if your stats increased less then 1%. Really bad design in my opinion.
The most stupid thing they did is expertise. IF you don’t have 600 gear score forget about getting legendary… Why ? Drop now has no love you get 100 items per dungeon 10 legendarys and you salvage 99% make legendarys and epics more rare but with better stats. Like if armor roles Great axe perk then it can only have stats like INT/FOCUS/CON/STR and it cant get roles like dex.
Even diablo games drops less loot (path of exile exception and it has loot filters).
Say they remove the Expertise system. The highest GS item you can wear at lvl 59 is 499. You level up to 60 and just skip 100 gear score and go straight to 600? That’s the way it was before the Expertise system and it was problematic.
If you ever played wow, they had a similar system to my suggestion. You’d get your set from a series of dungeons and then eventually get a better set until you can raid and get a better set. It provided progression after reaching max level which is important.
The Expertise system feels bad right now because it just feels like it’s in the way. There’s nothing tied to it.
It’s not hard to grind out, but it is awkward and frustrating to new level 60s. But getting rid of it doesn’t feel right either, objectively speaking.
it’s just one piece of a disjointed mess. There are weapon quest that require a group but give garbage, while solo quests in Brimstone give nice rewards. The Faction vendors gear again trash nothing end game.
Then there are the mobs that have health values that are still broken since they started making changes. Why when removing the 500-600 would they not leave the 590-625 and just fix all the other broken junk with new values? You make it sound like the only option is not fixing the mess from before as well when doing the overhaul.
We already know they are reworking the quests from 20ish onward.
Yeah, the faction stores need to have more relevant items in there. There’s only a few things worth buying at lvl 60. I feel like more is going to happen with the faction bases in everfall and when that happens I think it’s likely that the vendors will get some attention too. I hope lol.
That wasn’t clear to me. I’m not sure what you’re saying. I’m certainly not trying to say anything is the only way of doing anything though. I’m only stating my perception of the issue with the 500-600 expertise grind and offering a solution that I think will add clarity and direction to new lvl 60s as well as make that grind feel like less of an obstacle and more like a natural progression.
