Expertise system is better than HWM, but lets make it better

People seem to be up in arms about losing progress on the gear they spent so long collecting gold to buy or burned by the fact that they chose to only be a gather/crafter and do not want to be forced into the HWM grind for “end game” content.

Some suggests to improve the Expertise system have been as such:

  • Allow players to craft up their expertise, i.e. after crafting 100 ironwood bows please give me
an expertise upgrade in the bow
  • Allow PVP’ers to get gypsum from kills in the open world, especially around forts
  • Allow gatherers to lv past 200 like the crafting system to get extra Kudos for being a super
miner but also to gather that sweet gypsum
  • Allow characters to lv past lv60 like the crafting system. Effectively allowing players to enjoy
whatever content to lv their expertise in additional to all the other benefits.
  • Add Gypsum drops to random/holiday encounters. You want us to play this content and we do as well, so lets make this improve our character progression in addition to any other benefits

The point is, people love seeing numbers grow and want to play they way they want to play. Encouraging players with extra gypsum or guaranteed expertise increases for things like arenas or exhibitions feels like a more enjoyable player approach. I want to feel like everyway I play this game will lead into game progression and not be forced to play content because its the only way or optimal way to progress.

I encourage others to add their thoughts on ways we can improve the expertise system.
