Player can cheat the overweight feature by calculate the weight to the max like 500/500 weight and if tries to put more from a bag, he can run under a trembled sort of a cheat and roll or prone.
In game over cumbered tooltip say: “…if you have your inventory full, player cannot run, dodge or sprint”
Based on this statement, the player can run with this glitchy overweight sort of a cheat.
I had this happen to me a bit earlier. I became encumbered while mining iron whilst standing on the node. I was running around all glitchy could jump, dodge, use skills… It ended up stopping after I mined a silver node (while mining it my character was doing the up and down at the edge of the node)… ended up walking real slow back to settlement.
This might be related to perk ,Iron/Ore/Mining Tools weight X% less". I’m sure since if I have more of this perk on gear I get to have higher limit before getting completely stuck. In comparison with my satchels for mining I can get up to 620 load (max load says 500) but with the ones lacking the perk it’s about 560.
Yep I believe this is related to the perks as mentioned by the post above.
I have the “ores weigh X% less” one, and I’m able to go over my limit by around 20-30~ with ores, running around with glitched movement, before I actually become encumbered. The only thing you can’t do is fast travel/recall, but you can do everything else just in a “glitchy” state.
To add to this, everyone else sees me moving normally.
I reported this over a day ago did not get any traction.
The perks do not matter, the crafted bag does. Without a crafted bag there is no bug/exploit. The base crafted bag (slot one) with no perks, white quality will not do this. Only a crafted bag with any perk(s) of green quality or higher will do this. Plus swapping them out while overloaded will give infinite weight cap, also reported.
I just dropped some stuff and my character starting behaving normally again, then I mined an iron node which set me back to encumbered and the “glitched” state resumed. I do have a bag with ore/ingot weight reduction, so maybe there’s an issue with the weight calculation?
Same here, have it currently happening to me. It happened after I put iron ore out of my inventory to throw it away (I was encumbered), then deciding that I don’t want to throw away all the iron and changing back and forth between iron & gold to balance out what I throw away.
*Explanation: Had like ~300 iron ore, threw it all out of my inv. Then threw away ~50 gold ore and taking back some iron.
EDIT: Selfcrafted bags with Tanners Burden as effect (Reduce the weight of rawhide, leather, and skinning knives by 7.2%)
It’s now one day later and I can still run around with encumbered inv.
Don’t know why this isn’t getting more attention. Every playthrough I’ve had since launch, when I become encumbered sometimes I get this glitch and can operate normally while encumbered, but glitch run. It’s a super exploitative bug and will break the game if not fixed soon. I’ve reported the first few times, but I get it so often that I’m sure my first few reports of the same bug will do.
To clarify, I also have a reduced mining ore perk on my Uncommon (green) bag.
EDIT: I do not use this bug to exploit the game. Every time it’s happened, I’ve dropped things from my inventory to make room and it goes away. But I know that there will likely be people who take full advantage of this bug and that’s not cool.
