Not only does it feel terrible to have the bow’s only good abilities gutted because of all the GA/WH kids crying about it, but it feels even worse when the only silver lining of the balancing changes turn out to be useless.
Being completely honest, I was sooo stoked for explosive arrow. The numbers look good, I thought hey, this is gonna be sick! A new ability! I’ve been running bow since release pretty much so having splinter shot replaced was something I was really excited for. And look AGS, I know your heart is in the right place, and the concept of the ability is cool, but it is SO BAD.
Removing the wind up charge was a good start, but it doesn’t matter because the ability does NO DAMAGE. Hits for less than a non critical heavy attack, the contained detonation explosion is teeny tiny, the dot is laughable and makes almost no difference, also only effects the person you hit directly, it just doesn’t do enough damage.
Explosive arrow is basically just a heavy draw attack that comes out faster. Idk, I feel like when I direct hit somebody with it and I do under 1500 damage, I wanna just switch to a different ability. There’s almost no point in using it.
On top of that, you’ve gutted 10% of the bow’s damage from mastery perks and removed the stagger from penetrating shot, completely destroying only one of the few actually useful bow abilities.
I feel kind of cheated, my class that I’ve played since the beginning of the game feels weaker than ever. All of the left click warriors whining and complaining about bow constantly, leading to tons of nerfs and just a complete and utter gut of the abilities.
I just don’t understand why you would even bother reworking an ability entirely, only to make it do so little damage that it isn’t worth using in the slightest.
