Well I will teach my girl the value of money and if they can’t purchase something, then they need to earn to purchase.
Not everything in the world is for free or can be shared.
Just the way I was brought up when I was a kid, and she will be taught the same.
I am not sure why there is even a debate at this point. The actions taken by AGS were a knee jerk reaction to provide blanket coverage for a problem that they have no solution to, at this current time.
The discussion about whether this is leeching or stealing or anything else really has no value here. Family share is a legit option thru Steam for many games. The option in New World was given upon launch 38 days ago and until yesterday, people used it for valid reasons. If the MMO genre and New World specifically should not have had a family share option, they should have done the due diligence and disabled it before going live and offering it.
In my opinion, the botting and cheating and ban evasion tactics were not something they ever anticipated. They attempted to provide a family friendly solution by leaving family share active thru Steam at launch. At this time, AGS should and is working to provide a solution to those who actively used it for legit purpose. We just need to wait, hopefully not long, for them to provide a work around option.
I agree with the sentiment but when u have 4 kids and they all want the game that’s $60 NZ it is far more efficient for me to buy it once and manage their times appropriately and i don’t have to hear about it for weeks
Family share IS legit, unfortunately Amazon never had it set up to work the “legit” way. Family share DOES NOT let ANYONE play someone elses library when that person is online themselves, never mind the same bloody game.
The way this game used family share was never sustainable, it was literally against steams own TOS… A clear indicator it just wasnt set up properly to start with.
The workaround will be letting main accounts transfer characters from family share accounts, thats it, they definitely wont allow people to accidentally keep playing the game completely free.
agreed as I said I agree with the idea just not the execution for some the family share is a viable option to keep all your kids happy (they have to have their own accounts of course saves arguments) just want a resolution so I can get some peace and quiet XD
If you can tell me any other MMO where you can have people playing for free from one persons account then fair enough, otherwise what they have done is already the correct resolution, they fixed an issue that should never have been in the first place, so some people got many hours worth of free gameplay, but are still complaining… Do you only buy one cinema ticket for all your kids to share? whats the difference here then?
say that when u got to dish out $240 because all your kids want the same game i don’t know about you but as a solo dad that’s just not happening so if I let my kids play on “free” content as you put it then so be it

How about you let them all play from the same account,1 at a time, the way family share is intended to be used, they can all have a char on different worlds.
All mmo you can share game account. You can’t use 2 account with a unique license. And this need to do AGS. None here want use one license for 2 account. The legit player want use the license for one account.
It is easy: Account steam <> account license New World. and all problems are resolved.

“You may not share your account or password with anyone, except if you are a parent or guardian, in which case you may permit one minor child to use your account. You may not use your account at the same time, and you are liable for activies conducted by the minor child.”

This isnt a typical mmo where 1 has a monthly subscription to have an active account. Family share thru Steam works exactly as it is intended. You pay for the game 1 time and members of your family, linked to your account, can also access and play the games you as thr primary own.
The difference here is similar to steaming a new release on HBO Max. Steam offers a service and New World opted ibto this service. The catch all is people abused the family share option, which is limited to X accounts total by making many dummy accounts and linking/unlinking as they needed to.
It should be a simple and easy process to see who uses family share legitimately and who uses it to power thru 96 accounts in 30 days.
Sorry but you are just wrong, even steam says in their TOS for Family Share that a person sharing your account can not play anything from your library when you yourself are online, this was broken with new world which allowed people to do something they should NOT have been able to, that has been fixed now…And please, show me ANY MMO that allows people to share accounts and/or have multiple people playing from 1 account.
You are super dense. I am not saying that Family share should allow a whole family or a sea of bots to play the game at the same time. Inam saying family share is the provided option for 1 person to purchase a game and share it with their family.
Please stop referencing other mmo’s and account sharing. Family share never allowed younto share accounts. Each user played independently of each other on their own account.
Without setting up multiple machines or virtual machines, you can not even run 2 instances of the steam client, and thus, New World at the same time.
Please continue to tell me more about a system that you obviously know nothing about. It is very apparent now, you are just another flake who rants on the internet from a forum post they read, rather than understanding the logic and what people are even asking for.
