Favorite Convention?

I eagerly await the comments in this thread.

My favorite event is where dev’s go to meet up then proceed to blame users of there bad systems with phrases like, “they just don’t understand it” or “RTFM”.

Instead of admitting there systems are garbage.

i never went to a convention so i dont have much to say , but i will bump this thread to help out since shadow foxes job got harder since yesterday

Haha thank you! I appreciate it! Shocked that it’s so hard for some to want to just chat about anything.

We’re eager to hear feedback and work together as a team. I do understand that things have been difficult these past few months but we are trying.

As for the topic… it is okay to just hang out and have a fun conversation too.

I enjoyed CES, VMWORLD, and to meet people in emerging markets Cybertech LATAM and ITNow.

Been a developer for 20 years. The main drawback of all developer sis blaming users for there own mistakes. Fun times.

Oof, then I’m super sorry for your experience as a dev. Might want to find a more supportive and understanding team at some point.

Oh gosh, those all sound so exciting! I’ve never been to any, but I’m so hoping to travel more once things start running again.

Ok. Can you highlight what the dev’s thoughts are on people like me saying, “remove expertise”?

Sure! There was shock and sadness, they put their heart and soul into the game and they thought it would be a good idea. But they realized it was unacceptable. They thought it was clear that they were wrong. There have been adjustsments made and I’m tasked with continuing to gather more feedback. There is always frustration but it’s more at the point that these changes or decisions can’t happen just at once or even over night. There are so many teams involved at different degrees. Changes would not have been made and still a thing they are balancing if they just thought it was something a player didn’t understand.

I started playing about a month ago. At this rate I need 3-4 more months to catch up to do mutations due to a random system, simply due to expertise.

By the time i do that you’ll introduce another system that extends grind rather than making fun systems that people “want” to do.

Maybe the main feedback I could ever give to this game is instead of creating systems to FORCE people to play, make FUN systems that keeps them playing.

Thanks for feedback. I’ll wait before uninstalling.

Of course, and no pressure or rush! I agree with your feedback and the team feels the same, just gotta figure out what works and what doesn’t.

if you will allow me to be a bit negative here (i am sorry ) but it is my honest opinion .

i dont understand what is there to be shocked about , i never seen in my gaming life people
that say : yes we like time-gated content , yes we like restricted and limited access to content .

if the fears were that the players were gonna get geared to fast or something like that.
then the gameplay loop (dungeons) should be the gating and the grind as well
example : you complete a dungeon on easy or lvl 1 or whatever to unlock the next level.
and bit by bit get higher tier gear , not gate it with artificial systems .

and if another point was that they want all game systems to be connected .
then simply make trade skills useful in pve and not a requirement to access .

i have no doubts the devs worked hard , and put their hearts into the game .
it shows in the game , but some of those ideas i just…cant accept …they are not fun .
i am sorry , i just dont understand .

you could say well there are people who like that sort of stuff , but i would ask what was
exactly the target audience ( players , customers) for the game ?

i can handle bug , bots , lag , server problems all and any of that , but this one thing just rubs me the wrong way .

i am sorry for the rant again .

Lol @Shadow_Fox I know you meant well to spark conversation with us, but as you can see it’s pointless as you are going to have people post on here complaining. :man_facepalming:t2:

But to stick to the original question, I wish I can go to like PAX or the LA con but unfortunately I can not so NYCC Is the only one I go to and I am funko pop collector so I go for the exclusives.

I enjoy meeting up with gaming friends at PAX East! I hate lines though so I’m usually just attending the talks and hanging out in the Indie games area.

Haven’t been since 2018 though. Covid is still so scary, I couldn’t imagine going to a convention this year. To each their own though.

When was the last PAX West you went to? Were you working in the industry or attending as a fan?

Haha nah, it’s all good. I knew how it would go. And can’t expect change without slowly trying first.

What about PAX East??

Oof, yeah, the lines are NO fun. And my feet and back are always killing me for days afterwards.

The last PAX I attended was actually PAX East, right before COVID really hit. So, the last one. I think 2020? Man… myself and my team were SO lucky to get out of there without catching it. A few people were starting to wear masks and we had to spray everything and keep wiping everything down. At the time I was the CM for CORSAIR. I still had alot of fun! But oof, was a close call.
