Feedback after 242 hours, pros & cons

Started October 3rd, a bit late, and have played many hours a day since then - but that time is coming to an end for various reasons. Here is my 2 cents.

The Good:

  • Music
  • Aesthetic - Art, Environment, the “Feel” of being in a New World.
  • Combat - Fighting people feels fun. Learning when to use your abilities to counter and when to be offensive has been a fun learning experience.
  • Community - Great sense of community since you play with the same people most of the time.
  • Gathering - Feels good to gather nodes in the world - they server as great distract from the tedious walking everywhere.

The Bad:

  • Copy pasted monsters throughout the game
  • Copy pasted towns, just rotated a different angle
  • Azoth. I get it, I do, but it feels like a tedious system that just brings the game down more than it improves.
  • Bugs - So, so many bugs
  • The “PvE” in this game @ level 60 consists of farming the same chests and elites to raise a “watermark” or the system which dictates what level gear you drop. You have to farm the same items over and over to raise your watermark past the initial 500 mark.
  • Crafting - massive time sink for not much gain until you raise your watermark to 600 to craft gear. There will be a massive economy crash once people hit 60 and starting maxing professions and crafting gear, watch.

Final Thoughts:

Game is 100% worth the $40 price tag if you’re looking to try out a new game; who knows, maybe you’ll love it. Didn’t scratch that MMO itch liked I hoped it would. Will be back to check out future updates - I think the game has a GREAT skeleton to work off of, and if they put in the time and listen to the community, I can definitely see New World being a long lasting MMO with a dedicated player base.

Good luck to everyone out there, see ya around
