I think the game has gone a long way in the right direction since launch, but I want to share my thoughts on where I think improvement is still needed.
PvP Content
The action PvP is arguably the advantage this game has over other MMOs and the developers should be leaning into that. I’d like to see:
- New OPR maps (random selection to not split the queue)
- New arena maps (copy and paste cool places from the world)
- Ranked arena, with cosmetics/BOP rewards that can only be obtained through reaching higher rating brackets
- Deterministic rewards to work toward instead of hoping you randomly get the right reward in PvP track
- PvP Seasons
- More PvP perks, maybe bind on pickup perk items but for other professions and not just jewelcrafting
- Consider in the future having areas with end-game valuable resources that force PvP flag, so there is actually risk involved in going to gather there.
Item Clutter and Crafting
- Void Ore and Voidbent ingot- please give these items new recipes so void ore is valuable again- maybe a new ingot that combines asmodeum and voidbent ingot, or making asmodeum with void ore
- Abundance of crafting mods and legendary materials that are never used should be removed or reworked
- Legendary crafting recipes are almost all worthless and not worth crafting- we should have more recipes like the golden steel storage chest that are highly sought after but for every profession
- Named 590 items that are objectively bad or have the wrong attribute should be removed or updated (there are 19 named 590 great axes with dexterity on them)
- Enormous list of recipes in the crafting stations with all the timeless shard variants- please just give us a dropdown menu to select the stat we want and if we want to add a scarab instead of 12 separate recipes per weapon
- Please allow use of golden scarab with the expedition replica recipes since transmog is not coming for a long time
- Abundance of potions from chests and monsters is devaluing the arcana profession
- Runestones are kind of neglected- runeglass could be good recipes to add them to
- Would also like to see equivalent of void ore for the other gathering professions if it is made useful again
PvP Balance
I would like to see more frequent balance changes, based on actually watching how PvP plays out on live servers and not based on what the vocal minority complains about on the forums and Reddit. With that said, here are my personal opinions on what should be looked into:
- Mage damage is underwhelming compared to bow/musket
- Healing reduction disease should apply to the entire amount of healing, instead of being subtractive- If a player has +50% healing (150%), the maximum disease amount currently just reduces their healing to 100%
- Sacred ground bonus healing %
- Musket has high damage, fast fire rate, very high accuracy without bullet drop or having to lead shots, no damage drop off and no recoil
- Shield stun duration
- Shirking fortification
- Blunderbuss burst damage
- Hatchet invulnerability
- Heavy armor class should have more damage reduction and/or reduce received CC duration
- Diminishing returns (triple hammer stun chain in arena is unfair)
- Mortal empowerment on ranged weapons
Trading Post
- Please allow 2 attribute types to be selected for a search, for example DEX, split DEX/CON or CON
- On sell tab, show buy orders AND sell orders when clicking a sellable item
- Turn off “any selected perk” by default, as it turns back on every time the criteria is changed
- Set default listing duration to 1 day instead of 14 days
General Feedback
- Please rework elemental weapon gems, so that the intelligence scaling is actually competitive and the gems get used as intended, or remove the int scaling and add elemental effects like a burn for the fire gem, slow for the ice gem, rend for the void gem, etc. The visual effects of the gems are awesome, especially on melee weapons and it would be nice to see more use for them in PvP aside from bypassing resistances
- Only allow PvP flagged players to set their respawn to PvP flagged camps of their own faction and allow enemy flagged camps to be destroyed- it is incredibly frustrating that a single individual or group can hold a fort hostage by respawning right next to the fort and running back endlessly.
- Skins in the store often do not fit at all with the original aesthetic of the game
- Please add an inspect feature to see other players’ gear
- Please add a combat log or breakdown of recent incoming damage on the death screen
- Please combine all storages and remove unique item number limit from storage- the separate storage system has just been an unnecessary chore ever since full loot pvp was removed and adds nothing to the game. Surely there is a better way to organize equipment sets and loot than storing things in different towns.
