Firestaff was the last viable weapon (with icegaunt) to play ranged in mass pvp.
Now, I feel like there is no point to play mage anymore.

I hit 2-300 more damage on attacks with my life staff than my buddy with his fire staff
His only hope to beat me on the dps vs boss fights where aoe doesn’t help is burn stacks but if I switch to spear as a heal I can probably win the damage race. I know it’s pvp oriented game but the boys need some love if they do 60+ dungeons/arenas. Open world pvp gonna be pretty hard for them if they can’t land the buffed pilar of fire and everyone needs to use cc weapon so they can hit with incinerate
@Pneuma yea. Make pillar hit twice again. Was playing fire staff since day 1. it’s absolute garbage now and I’ll feel useless. Mana consumption is insane now. Even heavy attacks don’t consume power I’ll still go down. And including the recent buffs on mobs it’s even worse now. So effectively you nerfed fire staff by more what ur stated.
I don’t feel the melee system for my self and I love range. Even if I’m wearing light armor I don’t feel any benefits from it. There is only downside. Getting 1 hitted and don’t do damage.

Firestaff still has 1.35 crit damage. Still has a minimum of 20% crit chance. 15% bonus damage in the tree + 25% for 7 seconds every 30 seconds.
Your friend is either terrible or terribly built. Those 170% pillar of fire crits hurt like a bitch let me tell you, and yes its better than before because the double hit bug wasnt even reliable.
Try incinerate, with the passives it’s doing 125% weapon damage per scond + burn + crit. It’s legit busted in damage, although short ranged and no grit so i think its fair.
Let me tell you this. Ditch FS and try another weapon, doesn’t matter which. It’s gonna give you some perspective maybe, cause FS isn’t weak thats for sure.

Of course, pillar should hit only once, it was too strong before the patch.

Maybe the fact that the only viable three for FS is the left one, based on crit chance and crit damage. But you removed it from lights and heavies, and you removed it from fireball (for some unknown reasons since it could crit, there are tons of proof on the forum).
Now we are left with a whole three with high crit chances and high crit damage but it works only with one clunky spell (PoF) since it does not work anymore with fireball/normal attacks and the last spell is the escape one.
I get it that you wanted the FS to be more a ability like class more than a “spam heavies”, but now heavies hit for nothing and ALL abilities are underwhelming.
PoF is clunky as hell, the aoe radius is really small, the range is small. Its only use is against non moving targets. Make it hit harder if it hits only one enemy, and I don’t know how but please make something with the camera when you cast this spell. You can’t see where you’re casting it in wars, OPR etc.
Fireball can’t crit anymore, I mean that’s just plain stupid. The only spell in the game that can’t crit is already stupid, even more when you think the whole three/passive is made to enhance crits.
Flamethrower now deals damage, but it has no grit and is just so unfun to use.
Incinerate range is still way too small, I mean GreatAxes lights attacks have more range than this aoe spell. (maybe not the best example since GA lunge is cearly overpowered but you get the idea). It hits hard, but it hits no one.
Meteor shower… I won’t even talk about this, it’s useless and clunky at the moment.
Fixed an issue where crit chance was increased for standard attacks and not just abilities.

Revert these. With PoF bugs fixes (double hit and refreshing making it having no cd’s) and others nerfs, it would still be a HUGE HUGE nerf but not has huge as actually, the weapon as it as has no place in the game.

I get it, subjectivity and whatnot. You like your weapon and go booboo because it got nerfed, i get it. But you.lose your credibility if you actually think FS was balanced before.
And it’s not functionality either. Still.works the same. Fireball crits were only using the crit bonuses from Int bonus and staff passive for 30%, not the weapon crit multiplier or crit bomuses from items.

They didn’t nerf burnout, they buffed flamethrower. Your auto atyacks still crit but with 5% less crit damage and 10% less damage with rune of helios. It’s not a big deal, considering you could three shot.light armor users just 2 days ago.

It went from A tier (S tier if you want) to F tier, nothing more, nothing less. The nerf is too heavy.

Did I say it was balanced before ? L2read. Pillar double hit was incredibly strong. But do you think that hammer/Gaxe are balanced ? Empowered fireball perk never worked aswell. So no, it wasn’t the best omega OP weapon even before the patch. Was it the best ranged weapon ? Yes, but bugged ice tempest was even stronger

It was reliable in the last patch, but don’t forget we’ve played with fireball+pillar not connecting to targets for 3 weeks. Plus, this is reliable only with a great cc lock setup.

Believe or not, something is off.
Maybe it’s another bug, but the overall damage has been nerfed, that’s for sure.
Critrate is ridiculous - We all feel it today compared to yday, it’s not just 5%, we feel like it’s 20-30%
Crit damage is ridiculous : on someone with full res gear, if I hit 1k5, crit applied is around 1k6-1k7, not more

no youre wrong, the only use of the fire staff was damage, now every other weapon deal lot more with control or mobility.
The fire staff was already weak before the patch, meteor shower and flamethrower are useless since the release.
And the only think that make the pillar decent was the double hit.
I have more than 150 hour with the fire staff and i can tell you its now useless both in pvp and pve

Thing is, GA players can’t facetank as easily as they could before. I hate those motherfuckers but really, after the heal nerfs thwy’re not nearly as much of an issie as they were.
And yes, if they applied ghost nerfs to FS you might be on to.something. But what i said and stand by, is that FS was broken and the changes as.they are written and feel in OPR seem more than fair for FS.
To expand how shit firestaff has been for several patches now I have literally been using a build that involves only 2 skills instead of 3 because literally every skill aside from POF and fireball are trashity trash, while fireball is still fireball it’s trash too and I love the way it works mechanically, I also agree put the crit back on fireball. I’m literally stacking up on the passives to get better damage because everything else is so trash.
Fifre / Ice is very easy to play. Most atacks are also AOE atacks that deal a lot of damage. Firestaff heavy atacks insane hitbox and easy to hit while the rate of fire is high and the damage also.
Both weapons have been balanced now but still far away from being bad or not meta.
Ice/Fire is still a very solid pick and people will also continue to play it.
I understand though that you are pissed that stuff got nerfed but both weapons were OP.
This changes were needed badly.
Nerfs are the tools of a dying game. Buffs are the route to an eternally constantly shifting engine of facisnation.
Fire staff is ruined now - It’s almost bad enough to make me wanna quit the game. Even auto attacks do nothing, its worse than the RES bug, cause now it feels like everyone is a damage sponge. Not salty, just sad.
I can still play with the staff of fire, but after the changes this weapon was boring and ineffective compared to the others, the fun of it was the gameplay and fast mobility, they want to make us use skills where we are like immovable idiots for the user of ax kill us even easier, I abandoned this weapon until they corrected it, because it’s broken.
