Feedback on the state of Healing in NW

I’ve been healing in NW since the preview event. through CB, OB and then since realase. I’m a PvX player, so I’ve healed in any game mode, from solo PvE content and M10 mutations to 1v1, Arena, OPR and Wars.

So I think I’ve got a pretty good picture on how healilng in NW has evolved. That said, this is just my opinion.

Right now, PvE healing is pretty solid:

  • For solo content, SG + DE + LE/Beacon is strong enough, without being OP.
  • For Mutations, we have enough good options:
  1. SG + OoP + Beacon for heavy melee groups
  2. SG + DE + SoL for heavy ranged groups
  3. SG + Beacon + SoL for mixed groups

On the PvP side, things are mixed:

  1. 1v1 (solo farming in OW or duels) is strong enough, without being OP (as it used to be)
  2. Arena also feels good. We aren’t inmortal as we used to be, but we can contribute to the team
  3. OPR feels terrible. Now, this is partly cos OPR feels terrible in the current meta, but specifically it hurts the healers a lot.
  4. Wars feel bad as well, it’s basically a survival game for us, as we spend more time surviving than healing, which is frustrating.

The reason of the poor state of healers in War and OPR is a combination of things.

  • The nerf to Fortify hit us pretty bad (Shirking Fort, SG and OoP). But, honestly, I think it was needed. A light player should be squishy, whatever is a fire mage or a healer. If we want to heal a lot, we should be glass healers.

  • We don’t have any survival tool in the Lifestaff, which makes us rely on our second weapon for survivability (rapier and IG as secondary weapon are the most common setups), reducing the fun of playing with 2 weapons (one of NW strong points)

  • Single target healing spells are too powerful compared to AoE healing spells, to the point in which going to OPR and Wars with SG + DE +LE is pretty common nowadays.

It makes absolutely nosense that in the 2 large scale PvP modes, the best option is using 2 single target healing spells, instead of the AoE healing spellls Single target healing spells should be for small scale PvP (1v1, 3v3, party healing) while AoE healing spells should be used in large scale PvP and PvE raids (when they come)

My suggestion to fix this situation is the following:

  • Nerf DE rebound, as it makes a single target healing spell the most effective AoE spell, which is total nonsense

  • Buff OoP, both in the quantity of healing granted and in the fortify buff it provides (or change the fortify buff to another different buff). Right now, it’s a pretty useless spell in most PvE and PvP situations.

  • Alternatively, rework OoP totally to give us a survival tool, so we can enjoy using our second weapon, instead of having it trapped as our only survival tool.

TLDR: Right now, healing in Wars and OPR (large scale PvP) is based on single target healind and tab targeting, both having no sense at all, as single target healing and tab targeting should ONLY be for small scale PvP and PvE content.

Edited for typos, English isn’t my mother tongue

Great feedback, but I find that to the current state is still missing that the time to kill is simply much too low.
The casttime of 1 sec on a directheal is often too long. The direct heals should rather have shorter casttimes and heal less.
The OoP, in my opinion, should be changed in the direction of being a good heal over time.
About the secondary weapon, I hope that the next weapon will be a support/heal weapon.

What I also miss a bit with healing, especially in PvE, is the possibility to remove debuffs. There are almost no debuffs that can be cleansed by heavy casts or SoL, yet there are tons of debuffs in PvE.

Yep, faster and less powerfull single target heals is also a good suggestion

OoP as HoT is also a very good solution to a spell that is subpar nowadays.

We can’t rely on the new weapon, as it’ll come in 5+ months, we need some tweeks up to then

Regarding the PvE debuffs, I agree with you, but I think that is intented: they rely too much on uncleaseable debuffs for certain mechanics…

It seems not many people are interested in healing anymore. Not a surprise with the current meta…
