I am not defending management at AGS for this choice, but the simple reality is… there is no real content to show at the moment, and probably won’t be any until the minimum time required to reach 600gs with the new system.
This is a hail mary time-gate, to try and net the last remaining 9% of New World players.
Yep, same. Steam lists 686 hours and I had about 120 hours across the betas/preview as well.
I’ve stuck with AGS despite 1 full guild disbanding due to prior problems, having to transfer server in order to get one which has full population, leaving behind sadly many friends, and seen every single real life friend quit the game over the last month or so (I’m 1 left in 13 of us that started)
Probably about 300 hours of that time were spent on hardcore leveling crafting and tooling up to be able to make 600GS items which I still can’t yet do because the barriers to entry for things like owning and paying rent on 3 homes is hard, especially when the economy keeps getting locked due to dupe/gold bugs and huge swaths of crafting being locked/nerfed due to abuse and bugs.
After all that they want to take my hard earned gear score and flush it down the toilet. If they think I’m going to keep playing after that they’re dead wrong.
You don’t even understand what we are talking about then, and this is exactly what AGS wants. Your CURRENT HWM will not be reset, but if your HWM is 550, and I have a 600 piece of gear, it now has the effectiveness of a 550 piece.
If you have 600 gear then you either bought it or crafted it and they never did count towards your HWM. They counted towards power and they decided that took away from the need to grind endgame content. By changing it, they game worthwhile endgame content or at least the chance of it.
They’re not resetting progress of people grinding HWM
They ARE resetting progress of people who crafted their own armour
Which is actually worse because at least if they punished everyone equally it would be fair, the way they’re doing it now unfairly punishes only some players and creates a large advantage gap between the lucky and unlucky players.
You have no idea what you’re talking about. Crafting high level ~600GS armour requires you to do a huge amount of end game grinding. Because you need rare materials, to craft with, you need to make gearing sets of armour to boost crafting, you need to make trophies to boost crafting, you need lots of money to pay taxes on 3 houses for the trophies. You need ultra rare things to get to the max level trophies, and you need a crazy amount of time/gold grinding out things like furnishing to max.
The fact you think crafters just sit in town all day is utterly laughable, you’re completely ignorant of how end game actually works for crafting and every time you characterize people crafting as not engaging with end game content you look more and more stupid.
Yes it will slow down selling items until people get their scores back up then it will be the best way to get proper perks. Did you even see the other stuff they are adding into crafting to make getting that score up faster?
All my skills are 200 but my desire to play right now is 0
I just like the forums and do enjoy knowing what is going on
Maybe I’m hopeful they will right the ship before the end
Their track record doesn’t seem to show that is reasonable
But I did put 900 hrs into this game and loved it for a time , then their calamity of mistakes and issues slowly drained that passion to a slow crawl and my interest in actually on life support
Anything that’s rare is extremely expensive, and getting gold requires enormous amounts of grinding. That’s not a shortcut to just buy stuff, I don’t know what world you live in.
Getting your crafting to 200 is only a tiny fraction of what you need to do in order to craft 600GS stuff, as has already been pointed out there’s a huge number of different factors that go into raising the GS of your crafted items from 500 to 600 which all involve incredibly rare and expensive materials. Again you just completely skip over this, showing that actually you don’t know what you’re talking about and have no idea how the end game crafting is done and how much effort is required.
I don’t think I’m special, in fact that’s kind of my point. Crafters aren’t special, they put in just as much grind, time and effort as anyone else engaging with end game content, and I’m advocating they be treated the same as everyone else. AGS are the ones treating the crafting as special by uniquely nerfing us and undoing our GS progress but not for anyone else.
