Few questions from new player

New player looking for some information.

Hi there, veteran of MMO’s here, grown kinda tired with the games I’m playing(Lost Ark recently, grown bored by wow and ff14) been thinking about trying out New World, I’d like to ask players about few things beforehand.

  1. How engaging endgame PvE is? What’s the loop, also is it fun? Is there anything similar to Raids?

  2. What will I miss on if I won’t PvP? Is it even worth to play it if you don’t pvp? Growing old, can’t be bothered any longer

  3. Which specs are most sought after? Most games I’ve played I’ve used to Tank, I’d like to tank but at the same time will I cuck myself open world wise by choosing tank?

  4. How hard will I be gatekept at endgame starting this late? Is there any chance of getting in groups as someone new, or I’ll struggle?

PS. Having to actually buy game on steam before you’re even allowed to write on forums to ask about it is fairly scummy.

  1. Repetitive but gets the most dev attention with larger challenges/open world bosses on the way.
  2. You miss getting t-bagged after losing a 4 versus 1 fight. Aside from that, nothing really.
  3. Tanks are the most sought after role for expeditions on my server, and likely every other server. Respeccing for open world is ez.
  4. Fresh start servers just released a week and a half ago, you can still ride the hype train if you pull the trigger and are prepared to grind.

Thank you for your response, i appreciate it. Could you elaborate on bullet point 4 a little bit more? What exactly should i grind? I did play for hour or two today, reached first city and started clearing main/side quests, think I’m level 13 or 14.

EDIT : Is respeccing really that cheap? I intended on going sword/board with greatsword as offhand.

You’re doing it right, spam quests and side quests. If you really want to optimize and get to end game ASAP you can follow this NMY_NW_FreshStart - Google Sheets
At level 50 or so you can hit 60 in a day if you spam the dynasty quest given outside of the expedition, clear the first 3 bosses then turn in the quest, it’s repeatable and gives the best xp/hr.

Respeccing is easy on melee, might just need a couple of armor sets, but you’d wanna level in light armor then get heavy tank armor as you go since light will make questing faster.
