How about looking at this as a way of fighting RMT?
This is what I see. RMT is the biggest problem for the community and devs. All these changes and BP will cause problems and a serious hiccup with RMT.
Why? It changes how RMT has to work. New inventory, lower sell prices, and greater chance of getting caught to the sellers and buyers.
The BiS will be a smaller pool for less generalized gear sets. RMTers will be easier to track. Switching the META seasonal will show patterns of who are buyers and sellers.
If this was the objective, I can see why all this is going on.
You need to take drastic measures to fight RMT. This all seems like stage 1
A high % assume the objectives was a balance patch. The reaction? The forums go Brrrrrrr
If fighting RMT was primary objective. And secondary are balance and meta change, you can see what they did. Each season can be possibly a meta that is less and less generalized. Filtering the data.
They are creating a square dance for meta to control and monitor RMT. And to be honest, RMTers will obey to the dance cause the META does control huge portion of thier profits.
I honestly think there is an easier way to solve RMT. Make gear more accessible. The gearing system in this game is the worst, most oppressive I have ever seen in an MMO. Just my thoughts tho
This update should help, as now you dont need thwarting strike or refreshing move on your great axe for it to be close to BiS. It will be easier to craft good ones so you won’t have to spend gold cap for them.
If they are trying to control META to track RMT, it is easy to do cause they can control the flow of META and RMTers have to follow the META to maximize profits.
I haven’t looked too much into it but this is a good thing imo. More avenues towards BIS gear means better price control, less RMT, and less gear differences between players in game allowing skill to factor in more
It’s hilarious to me that some people raise hell over the season pass (which I have no problem with) - yet don’t acknowledge the rampant RMT that occurs in the game, or protest that.
No. They could track and ban rmt right now if they wanted to.
How about this POV instead? AGS is making money off of the rmt, and the upcoming changes will encourage more rmt. So AGS will make more money. And the upcoming battle pass is a way to ensure that AGS makes money off of people who don’t want to cheat and are playing without rmt.
I think you’re really giving the devs way too much credit, lmao…
The devs wanna limit RMT in their game? Put self-customizable PvP and PvE gear up for sale at vendors, for Azoth Salt and a mix of expedition/mutator materia, respectively. Make it cost a LOT, but not an insane amount. Maybe 10 hours of optimal farming for any specific piece? That’d be quite a bit, 100 hours for a single-playstyle BiS set? I dunno. Regardless of the exact cost, it’ll provide an actual visible, achievable target, IN-GAME (not on some ridiculous slot-machine calculator third-party website) for anyone willing to put in the time.
Bam, 90% of RMT immediately dies. Will people still RMT with such a system? Sure, they’ll buy M10 carries and trade fort caps and maybe even buy war slots (actually, definitely all of those things).
But instead of that RMT saving them thousands of hours worth of grinding instantly off the trading post, it will only buy convenience. And that will drastically limit demand.
Change m10 shard system actually enough to kill 50% RMT but yeah AGS too lazy to do that.their only solution before was put all chests to last boss then all shard sellers began to sell shards+chests
Can’t expect devs to kill all the bots because believe or not, many people says bots are needed for economy…
At this point of game Amazon could simply make Umbral Shards tradeable or/and sellable.
There are people who have over 500k Umbral Shards and would like to help their friends/company and are people who RMT from it. Let the people to rather help for free or some small fee instead to support the RMT.
