I found out I need to level essentially all over again because of expertise. Feeling defeated now. Is it really as bad as I think it’s going to be?
People will tell you “It takes about a week” of: daily chest run & dungeons.
Reality: If you can tolerate how bad the rng in expertise really is. Nothing will phase you afterwards.
It feels alright. Its normal progress tempo right now.
Ofc if you are talking all weapons its gonna take a while but your prefered main and offhand wep with gear is pretty fast.
Especially compared to start where we did nothing but chest runs on a daily basis
Are you in a company? because on your own it will be terrible a company helps you with dungeons and yes can help with progression big time.
Hmmm… I’m curious… What did you expect you would be doing once you hit lev 60?
The same for anyone that wants to reply: What do you guys expect or do once you hit max lev in an MMO?
Congratulations on completing the Main Tutorial. You now have access to the full game. You can finally purchase gear from the trading post and start building the ability to loot high-level gear yourself.
It’s really not that bad if you don’t think of it as a grind. You can buy some 590+ gear now and get 550ish GS benefit, which increases as your Expertise goes up. Explore expeditions, chest runs and the gypsum system and before you know it, you’ll hit 600.
Focus your gypsum casts on the weapons you use and your jewelry, as you’ll get more armour bumps just from playing.
I mean, in old MMOs, getting to the level cap was the end aside from guild content/raiding/camping for rare loot. Usually they would raise the level cap when a large portion of the population were reaching the cap.
This whole Destiny-style design is rather strange and unintuitive in my opinion and is only superior to simply raising the level cap in the sense that you can ignore the equipment you aren’t interested in and focus your expertise gains on your preferred weapons.
Even so, its bizarre to me that a fresh 60 and a 625 60 are so wildly different in power. You should really add additional character levels for such dramatic increases, the difference between fresh level cap and min-maxxed level cap should only be about 10-15% improved performance in my opinion and right now it’s like 250%.
I guess new players would complain even with new system that can bump expertise in so many ways and much faster
You should know back then people don’t even know there was expertise system and had to farm bosses for at least 6 hours a day just to get a few bump for few gears
This. Every single MMO starts when you hit max level. This is no different.
this person wants like 5 hours of content.
dk what u talkin about
Im playing casually, i still cant get to 625 i pumped my gear to 615 after that it takes ridiculous amounts of shards. I couldnt bear rising my gear score with chests and dungeons from 520 to 600 that would be such a pain in the ass. Thats why i cant get my friends to play this game
It think this is the main issue and what puts a lot of fresh 60s away from the game. The finally hit 60, but they are as week as a lvl 40 character compared to all the other 60s with 600+GS.
If a fresh 60 buys 600GS gear off the trading post they still won’t be able to compete and everything they loot on the expertise grind would be useless salvage trash until they hit 600 expertise themselves. That is demoralising to any sane person especially when they have to keep trashing all their low expertise named loot for weeks.
People can deny it all they want, but the evidence speaks for itself when returning players keep saying that they hate the middle grind to 600GS. It’s not like they are actually filling a bar like XP levelling. It’s just an rng grind with some gated relief.
The grind from 600 to 625 actually feels good because you have real control of your progression with Umbral Shards. Why don’t they just make it similar for 500 to 600? Umbral Dust for the climb?
Fresh character can buy gear from AH with right stats and perks and be around 20% weaker than 625 geared character. I don’t know where u got your 250% difference, its complete nonsense.
On a positive note, going from 600 to like 620 doesn’t take very long. It took me like 2 weeks without doing any mutated dungeons. 620 to 625 is a little more painful, but if you do dungeons it shouldn’t be that bad.
im really confused why people are all of a sudden surprised that you have to keep playing the game after u hit 60.
Simply because it does not contribute anything, in fact, that mechanic was put there due to the lack of content that there was at that time and it was the best thing they could think of to keep people busy. Right now with the current amount of content and the GS625 is no longer needed, all it does is drive away potential returning players and new players…
The point where a lot of players quit the game.
It’s better than what it used to be…but still rough.
Expertise grind shouldn’t be a thing…
What they have to do is remove the experience from 500-600 and improve the way to get threshold, which you can get by killing mob lvl 60+, all kinds of pvp events, including open world (especially this one).
I highly recommend doing chest runs daily. Not sure what server you are on but on mine there are a bunch of set timed ones daily. Some may think they are boring but I have all my weapons/jewelry/gear to 600 (I have a bunch to 625 also but I am talking about your normal expertise) and I still do chest runs because I have fun doing them. Ours only takes maybe 1 1/2 hrs and we do them all (except I stop when they do mangled which is the last one).
But things will bump up fairly fast. I don’t know how people got it in a week as it definitely took longer but with the more ways to get shards now too it shouldn’t be too terrible. Plus try and do a couple expeditions a day. I know you said you play casual so maybe do a couple expeditions every other day and at least 1/2 a chest run?
Otherwise, there are no raids here so really, this is all part of the end game anyways so you don’t really need to rush for anything unless you really really want to do higher mutations.
Here is what I do.
When I work:
- I do 4-6 Gypsum
- Process daily time gated materials
- Do a few PvP Mission
Days I am off:
- I do 5-8 Gypsum
- Process daily time gated materials
- Run some mutations
- Help in my companies Invasion
- Push territories
- Finish some story missions I ignored (in 60+ areas they give gypsum orbs sometimes)
- Slip some buy orders on the TP
There is so much to do, I started doing it a day at a time and stopped worrying about the people who roll around in BiS everything who have 3000 hours in the game already.
This game is a grind. I am about to hit 1200 hours and I am:
- A crafting Master
- Have almost all of the weapons level 20
- Almost finished leveling every piece of the expertise system at 600.
- I can run up to M8 mutations witha good set or armor
- I own all but about 35 of the furniture schematics
- I am a weaponsmith hat and pants from having every needed armor set for crafting.
I am focused long term for the game. I have took the time to level EVERYTHING. Not only is it possible, it isnt that hard. You just have to play within the systems they have given us. During the work days, I do the dailys then I go play something else.
This is not meant to be the only game you play. I have been playing my other addiction (league) and I am trying out POE as well.
I hope you have fun in Aternum.
EDIT: I did all of this before the XP changes reducing the needed XP for all of this coming next month. It is just gonna get easier,
