20% difference between BIS geared player and fresh lvl 60 with TP gear is totally acceptable ![]()
Show me any evidence that 590 gs players are invited to wars on competitive servers.
But not competitive. And its larger than that. Show me a pvp build you can put together from auction house on your server for under 25,000 for Great Axe War Hammer that you think will be competitive including jewelry.
I will wait.
As another example with the upcoming ptr patch notes regarding Perk changes Enfeebling Maelstrom will now debuff enemy damage by 24% for 8s if the perk is on the Great Axe.
I went to the AH on Valhalla after I read the notes to see if I could pick up an axe before prices soared. There wasn’t a single Great Axe on the trading post over the last 48 hours with Enfeebling Maelstrom available to purchase at any price.
A new player would have no immediate avenue to even get the perk on their weapon and that is a difference between 13% on armor as a perk or 24% on weapon as a perk. A large difference for an aoe ability in clumps to alter outcomes of group fights.
Unavailable except for companies or players that are master crafters.
Not a pvp player by any means, but couldn’t AGS have built in different ways to PvP? What I mean is, have at least two options for how PvP goes? Like, players can choose, when they flag up, “Normalized, or not to Normalize” their playing session.
Some folks would always choose to keep their hard earned gear relevant, and would thus be able only to play against others that had chosen that option, while the vast majority of pvp players, without 625, could just select ‘normalized pvp’ for a given session, and enjoy a purely skill based pvp experience?
Have the two types only show as flagged to others with the same option on, so in pvp mode with god gear on, no other players should be seen on your screen (not just no ‘normalized pvp’ folks, mind you, but PvE players as well), but just those playing pvp the way you are playing it.
Wars are top end PvP content. You are not supposed to participate in it until you got a decent gear AND decent PvP experience. Fresh players don’t even know what to do in wars.
But guess what, 90% players won’t get to wars on competitive servers even tho they got 625 PvP gear. Its the same 50 people all over again on competitive servers.
How is this different for fresh player and vet player? Does fresh player need to earn more gold than vet player to buy GA with EM ? Is fresh player influenced by not having GA with EM more than vet player?
How you define competitive? And no, its not larger. Again, numbers don’t lie.
A vet player will have more gold to acquire one from a crafter, yes. Or to buy mats to ask another player to craft a run of them. Or be given one from their pvp company. That was an example for why gear should be more widely available with quality perks and more uniform without the rng/gacha perk chance and gs crap when crafting. If the gearing system was updated it would usher in more interest from the pvp community to play this game.
Instead most on the outside view New World pvp as a grind or an elitist only activity as you described. That’s not healthy for the game’s long-term population. It should change.
So now we moved from Expertise and GS being the main problem for fresh players to gold being the main problem? You should choose.
Im vet player with 20k gold, I don’t see how it is easier for me to get gold than for new players.
Please show me an example of a common war build and a price point with gearing options from AH that you find that you think a new player will be able to afford to purchase to get war ready.
War ready on a healthy pvp server is what I would call competitive. Being able to compete with the meta and players that do get slotted in the big wars on a pvp server. That’s competitive in my mind.
You won’t get invited to wars unless you are part of competitive company, doesn’t matter what gearscore you have. IF you are part of competitive company then this company usually helps you with your gear.
Until a player hits 595 GS all drops are salvagable plus you can’t do mutated dungeons. Wood chopping is the most efficient way for a low GS pvp player to get the gear.
There’s a lot of problems the dev’s need to fix. I don’t mean to be a jerk or conflate but the server population’s are not healthy for the game. Can we agree on that? I’m not trying to argue with you. I’m trying to make you understand that the new player experience and time to usher them in to feel like they’re enjoying pvp in New World and not getting slaughtered needs to be improved to keep them around.
I want to see the game grow, new/old servers spin back up, players return, new players buy the game from the hype they hear. And that means making it more friendly to them with QoL changes that may devalue my personal time investment in my gear set as a veteran player, but help them get up to speed with players like me or better than my gear set, quickly.
And that’s why right now we have 10k players and we’re still going down, adding the experience system difference to all of that seems illogical to me at the time of the game. The player who enters the new world, enters mainly because of what they show me in the game’s advertising and appears in wars, open world pvp, arenas, OPR, etc. If he can’t make that content in an “optimal” amount of time, he just walks away.
There are tons of problems, i definitely agree with you. I just think we need to burst this “you will get destroyed until you have 625 bis gear” bubble.
If new player comes to these forums and checks youtube he will learn about how he can’t play PvP before he does hundreds of hours of PvE grind because he will be hitting others for 500 while getting hit by 4000. This nonsense needs to stop. It drives people away.
Yes, you won’t be able to participate in high end PvP content = wars, unless you are geared AND part of a competitive company. But thats problem of itself, its not just fresh player problem, 90% of players can’t participate in wars since their gear isn’t perfect AND, more importantly, they are not part of those competitive companies. Until they introduce some kind of mock wars most of the population simply won’t be able to participate in this content no matter what gear they got, no matter if they are vets or fresh players.
There are milions of reasons why we got 10k players online. I don’t think its because fresh players are doing 20% less dmg than players with hundreds of hours … for MMORPG standards its actually very small difference.
Hahaha, after all this conversation you still don’t understand anything, I congratulate you.
No, I just don’t understand you.
You can do OPRs, 1v1 and arenas just fine even as a fresh player. You will usually get destroyed because of various reasons but geascore will be the last of them. Your awareness, individual skill and PvP knowledge, your build (meta or nonmeta) right PvP perks on your gear. That matters the most, not that 2% resilient difference combined between 550 and 625 or few more stats.
Have you adjusted that number to the lower con and overall resistance? Can you make a test of two players one with 540 ah gear vs one with 625, same weapon? How many hits does it take to kill 625 by 540 and how many hits does 625 player needs? That would be super interesting.
